I think that Tompa's attitude in the game is exemplary. How these rep watches look in real life is never how they appear to be on the forum, a static, magnified picture zoomed x times and holding perfectly still till the end of time for scrutiny. Movement and real-life size are real factors and will always be a part of our real-world wrist game.
It is about the wearer. I can put on a stock v-whatever rep royal oak and the people around me will never suspect its a rep.

Well said bro. Sometimes we fall too much into the macro nitpicking seen in the forum. To be honest, i'm glad and honoured you did my relume but i wouldnt have done it if the watch wasnt "close" to you. It was just an opportunity.

However, what it comes down to is the insecurity of the rep wearer imo. Ie, they're afraid they're going to get called out and thus have to fix all those tiny little problems that call out to them. Reality is, no-one cares. You're more likely to attract the attention of a mugger, than someone who is actually genuinely interested in the haute horology sector.

It's like luxury sports cars... we buy them thinking we'll attract girls. We don't... we attract boys and old men. That's my experience anyway... well and a few gold digging hoes... but yeah.

I get very annoyed with them because of that plus the fact that they always try to claw my watch off me while whispering "gimme that G shock. Gimme, Gimme". Its getting seriously annoying.

I got my V2 markers relumed because they reminded me of my 1993 Seamaster tritium markers every time I looked at it.
I like the yellow markers on a vintage tritium watch, but on a brand new AP rep not so much.
I got them relumed for me, because I like them white, not for others. Nobody ever gave a shit what watch I was wearing (except two friends who also like watches).
If the yellow does not bother you, fine, if it does, it is not necessarily due to insecurity or because you need it to look as gen as possible. And even if - as my co-worker would put it - whatever floats your boat.
We don’t always need to be judgemental about other people’s choices.

Gold digging whores are standard but in my experience, having a nice luxury sports car has never stopped women being attracted to me. The best response one can give when a lady says something like "nice car" is to graciously respond "thank you", then immediately change the subject...

However, to run with you analogy, having a nice car but no 'game' when it comes attracting women isn't gonna work. Having the confidence to wear a rep as if it's a gen might help however... Partly because it all makes sense if one already has a nice car/clothes/smile etc.

Funniest thing is, I bought my car primarily because I like nice cars - I never thought about the effect driving/owning it might have on women! Likewise I buy reps because I like the way they look, not because of the reaction people may or may not have and I say this as someone who owns both gens and reps; I wear and enjoy them all equally.

That's just my take though, yours may vary!
