Thanks everyone. Taking note of all the comments. Fordystar, I really appreciate the concern to help me get this thing sorted.

I already contacted Fedex and told them that as far as i know, the watch is genuine. I figured nothing good would come out telling them that I sent a fake watch. I still need to talk to another fedex personnel as apparently Fedex Canada has called them again saying that the receiver is insisting that the watch is fake.

I already PM'ed the buyer requesting him if he could stop telling fedex canada that the watch is fake.

If I were you I would be ****ing pissed off. WTF was the buyer even thinking?! But do take precaution in listing out too much details on the forum (perhaps you can edit and remove the past info). You never know when they track your posts to your IP address and screw you over and over. Hope things get sorted out soon!

The buyer must be a simpleton, what is to be gained from declaring the watch as a replica. As harsh as it sounds you should inform them its a genuine get the watch returned pay any fines/fees then refund the buyer minus fees and costs for your time.

Right. First up I need the name of the buyer via PM. No if, no buts.

The course of action you have taken looks to be all you could do as I assume they know you sent it (ID check on sending yes?). What a waste of a BKYM.

They do have my address and contact info as I was required to show my ID when sending the watch.

Yeah, buyer needs to shut his pie hole and pay the $40. If it's to late for that then he learned a lesson the hard way. No way should he get his money back if you don't get the watch back in return. Eventually he'll understand his screw up(hopefully) and realize that he shouldn't have put you in this kind of situation. I would without a doubt wash your hands of any illegal transaction the best you can. Nope, wasn't my watch kind of thing. Best of luck with this. Man I would be livid!

Totally agree with more of the people. Buyers fault not yours. Come on its only 40$... Split it if for crying loud if you cant afford paying all of the amount. I really cant understand admiting that you are on illegal transaction??? This is very stupid from the buyers side... I think you should back of and deny everything and let him find a way out. The watch may be lost but i would prefer that on getting charched for illegal deal here... I cant believe some people are so &$#%/*...

Just deny you knew it was a fake, say you bought it from eBay or a street seller a few years ago and you were sending it out to get serviced. You always believed the watch to be gen and thus you shipped it as one. Tell the buyer to play along, they may bring in an AD to check the authenticity of the watch, is it being held by the canadian customs? I doubt if they have been informed the watch is a fake they'll just reship it back through US customs, it could get destroyed, but this is all the buyers fault so they have to accept that if the watch gets destroyed (over $40 as well!).

I hope it works out dude, you've done all the right things so far.

why would somebody go to so much trouble to avoid paying 40$????? if i were you i would do as the majority here have said, tell fedex you got it as a gen and sold it as is. if the buyer refuses to accept the package then wash your hands and call it a day. definately dont accept it back acknowledging you know its a fake.

To be honest, as the buyer said it was a fake then he should face the consequences of the watch possibly being destroyed and not getting any money back as he was the one to ruin the transaction with a lack of common sense!

I'd say it was a sale from a friend a long time ago and I was sending it to be serviced, if it is in your opinion a fake then I understand the law and destroy the watch. You've made the sale so I feel you are entitled to all of the money and the buyer should face the music for saying it is a fake. Well he wouldn't get the watch and Fedex and Customs will just accept you know the law and taken responsibility for sending a fake.

It's like talking to a police officer in a bar and admitting you don't have car insurance - you face the music for what you say.

But maybe more applicable would be to say the $40 is his responsibility but to resolve the issue you'd go half on it?

Best of luck, and I hope it all resolves itself out.

Let us all know who this idiot is. This shouldn't happen and I'd hate to see it happen to anyone else.

Hopefully you got the money safe and sound in your back account. Telling them it's gen is the way to go. Hopefully they will drop it. I never send FedEx or UPS to Canada/out of the country for this reason. They want to know too much.

I agree. Tell FedEx you believe it is a real watch. Ask them if you can do anything to have it returned to you so that you can get it authenticated. If it is a fake you're going to try to chase down the guy you bought it from all those years ago in South Carolina.
Tell them you have no idea why the receiver believes it to be fake, since he's never seen it, and you suspect he is trying to avoid duties.
In any case his actions make you nit want to deal with someone this unethical and since he obviously is refusing delivery, how can you get it back?
I think that's the best route.
You cannot deny knowing anything and just back out leaving him to deal with it. Your name is all over this transaction.

Can't believe an idiot like that is in my country.

Never use Fedex. Always use USPS/Canada Post reduces customs risk to almost nothing. Fedex practically charges duty on everything even when they don't actually open the package.

Thanks for all your help and Pms. Really appreciate the concern and help extended by you guys. This is such a great community. I have given the name of the buyer to Trailboss.

The buyer has told me that he will sort things out with fedex tomorrow morning. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks guys!

Please do let us know the name of the forum member (perhaps an I.P. ban would not be unreasonable?) I'd hate to see myself or any other members in the same s*** as the buyer left you in.
