Why some people don’t reply the posts?

how many thank you posts can you take before it becomes a broken record, meaningless and hypocritical?... I don't expect a thank you after every single post I submit.

Nobody should expect anything.
But.

A) Excuse me Sir, do you know where is xxxx Square, please?

B) It's past xxxx Alley 2nd on the right, Sir.

C) Thank you very much have a nice day.

Regardless how many times a day I have to repeat points A and B, I'll always include point C in my personal conversations.
I can't see any meaningless or hypocritical content in point C.
Filthy habit I picked up in my family I suppose.

touche, but I'd rather express my gratitude with a donation to this dear place as a token of my gratitude. My manners are softly spoken with actions that leave little doubt that I am thankful for the time contributing members (not me of course, I just post whore) take to share their knowledge.

Oh cmon, pal that's a tricky formula you offer there. The trick resides in the "rather".
Why should one thing deny the other one?
Offer your contribution to the forum AND thank the guy who just did the research for you sacrificing his own spare time. It only takes a few seconds, can bring you a new friend and, I guarantee that, it makes you feel good.
Manners can't be mandatory of course, but don't complain if in the future some of your questions go unanswered. It's not about being formal, it's about being pleasant.
Polite = cool, impolite = uncool.
I might be wrong, but I guess you prefer dealing with polite people too. In that case I have no doubt you will gladly return the politeness you are offered.

What a pity not to be a native English to can reply appropriately many post here !
As above said I don't like the current way of this OLD thread (dated almost a year and a half).
Some people didn't read completely my OP and have confused the meaning. I'm not asking for gratitude I'm just asking for a REPLY either positive or negative. That's all.
There is even someone who confunds or expects to replace gratitude or manners with money ... OMG!

Many thanks Cybee and Jelly Joe for your kind comments.
JJ you are understanding perfectly my point of view! I much appreciate it. It was a helpful opinion for me.

Thanks to all members posting their opinions here.

Thank you too

Apart from jokes, I perfectly understood what you meant, Ale. It's not only about a "thank you", it's about the very basic politeness of replying, behaving, thanking when it's expected and due to. We share the same doubts and feelings about that, I reckon. Sometimes it's about giving too much to spoiled takers. Abundancia y soberbia andan en pareja :maty:. Nothing stopping us from sleeping nicely anyway, but you made a point I agree with.
Your english is good, far better than my spanish hermano ;)

It's not tricky it's simple, as easy as logic. Any of us do not donate, I don't think it's polite that we place the financial burden on TB. How does this relate to this topic, well I can sit here and say thank you JJ and ALE for contributing to my entertainment this week   but without our donations and membership fees than this place would eventually shut down. But because I appreciate what members have to say, even rogues and trolls I have become a VIP. Now do I sit here and have a need to be recognized by it? Of course not and I refer people to here that I can trust enough to handle the truth but I don't expect them to thank you from here on out regardless of manners.

Just as your pal OP ALE decided to not have the stones to mention that I equated donating funds to rwi with gratitude. Obviously manners aside, I love the hypocritical higher than thou sense you and Ale seem to have. People have a funny way of judging others as you and ale do. I don't see you guys bashing on established members for not thank you after every question answered.

I guess my point is that it seems to be a little over the top to presume that a person is incapable of manners because they cannot thank you for a question you answered. Impolite? Sure, sure but hardly an indicative of a lesser being. You see, people may or may not have manners. People may or may not have lives out of this place. People may or may not feel comfortable with engaging in conversations when other people seem to judge right off the bat (generally speaking not directed at anyone). It took me awhile to transition from lurker to participant yet I do not easily answer other member's questions. Not because I am, do I dare say it? Oh gosh here we go... impolite but because I am not as knowledgeable as ALE or other members. The best that I can do is encourage people to donate, I appreciate this place and as such ensuring this place is helped out makes sense.

I have asked questions, some answered some not when I had less than 20 posts. But did I make a thread on how senior members ignored me? No, we are all a community that helps one another. I don't think most members forget manners on purpose JJ, that was my point originally and so I was sincere in thanking everyone as a collective. BB decided to call it bs, which is ok we all have opinions and guess what? I laugh it off.

wow, this is getting to become a highly technical thread.....while the original intention was real simple.

if someone, say FI member XXXXXXXXXX, posts a thread with this title " I need a contact in denmark", and the post goes like this:
as stated in the title, I need a member to tell me if the danish ministry of agriculture allows farmers to sodomize their animals.

I as a danish member could reply to this like this.
"yes, in denmark, it is legal to sodomize animals as long as the animal does not show dislike of the situation"
now while that indeed is wierd, itis also true.

the OP would then have to open the thread with his question, to read the reply, in which case, he might as well post the word "thanks" now that he had the thread open anyways.....

I really don't see how that is a strange thing worth debating about???

if someone posts a question, and does not care enough to say thanks to a reply that he finds helpful, then up to him, but I think it's just a nice thing to do........

now the sodomy thing should be worth having a loooooong discussion about, but please take that discussion to the looney bin

If you don't feel like thanking who helped you, then don't. You are free to act as you wish.
