It was a lighthearted comment guys.
No offense meant.

I think you're very lucky to be able to defend yourselves in this way.

Yep, play nice guys.

From time to time threads like these crop up and I don't even participate because I know I'm a little too ... um, 'passionate' about it. Yeah, that's it.

I'm in Nashville and I always CC with an Inside the Waistband holster, had to go thru a bunch of holsters to find a good one since I prefer to carry Sigs and 1911 which are heavier. Crossbreed supertuck and Milt Sparks holsters are the best IWBs in my opinion.

Brandon, not that this will probably ever apply, but IF I were a bad guy and about to make a serious play, the first thing I'd do is neutralize any potential threats, which would include any capable-looking hombres that are openly advertising that they're packing.

And I wouldn't inform you to your face. I'd "inform" you to the center of your back. Twice. (And then one in the head, of course).

Just saying you might be sacrificing a tactical advantage, if the tango knows you're carrying, but you don't know he is.

Likelihood? Probably low. If open carry/deterrence is more to your liking, I say go for it, brother. ;)

I totally agree with this logic. I have CC'ed for years, in fact, even before it was legal and I had a permit. While I agree that we should all have the right to open carry, that doesn't make it the most tactically advantageous way to protect yourself or those that you care about. If you open carry, you can rest assured that if a situation occurs in your vicinity, you will be the first target that gets neutralized. If I were a bad guy who was willing to hurt other people, seeing someone else carrying a gun openly is not going to deter me, it is just going to help me prioritize my targets. In fact, if I have brought only a knife to the party, now I also know where I can get a gun. And if there are two of them working together, one to distract you and the other to get behind you, they will take you gun before you have the opportunity to use it.

If you want to exercise your right to open carry, by all means, go for it. Just realize that along with that gun on your belt, you area also wearing a bullseye on your back.

I can open carry, but don't. I cannot see any appreciable benefit to doing so, and like anopsis said above I really don't want to be the focus of attention for any reason, but especially not for being armed.

This is one of the reasons (well, one of 1000's) I really want to move to Texas, my uncle, aunt and cousins live in Austin and you'll find me over there twice a year, love going to the gun range with my uncle(think he has a collection of around 27 guns now).

Sadly due to our horrendous UK law's, even carrying a BB gun in public can be illegal!!!

So, any nice attractive Texan girls on here want to marry an English guy??

Two things to consider for me, I am underage, and I am in Canada so this whole idea of carrying a weapon is WAYYYY out of the question for me, except a knife. But even then I can't carry it around with me for half the day because of school.

BUT I would carry something small in my pocket or a shoulder holster if I am wearing a jacket. Like a Glock 26.

If I ended up using a "murse" I would probably carry something a little larger. Like a Glock 23 or even a 19.

BUT basically I am saying I would conceal.

You wouldn't be out of place here. People open carry AKs, ARs, and 9" barreled 45lc revolvers. I love indiana.
