Who has the tungsten Rainbow Daytona’s?

Found a picture of a so called Franken Daytona Rainbow on the internet as per below.

It looks awful compared to the gen Rainbow.

Note the color of the gold which looks like cheddar cheese.

Here’s one of my watch cabinets with watches from 10-20 years ago. I now have a bedroom that is completely outfitted for my other watches. But I’m only going to show you appx 300-400 of the collection at the moment.

Doc, you look like you are in your mid 60's old based on the reflection in the photo of you in the mirror of the watch cabinet that you posted from 20 years ago. It appears that you are pushing the age of mid 80's now if you took the picture 20 years ago. Looks as if you could be the oldest member on RWI at 80 plus years.

Probably 40-50 of these. 4 Digit early Daytona’s. Another 40. Richard Mille, well over 100 of these ranging from DHGate specials to $1000+ models. As long as it it ticks, I collect it. I think you catch the drift

Here is one of my homes in Florida from 15 years ago but had to let it go as it wasn't big enough to house my ever expanding watch collection. At that time I was over 300,000 and was afraid that @TonyMonatana44 (just joking TM) was coming to raid me of all my valuable reps.

So I fled to Canada (house I live in now below) and assumed a new identity and now only own 10 reps. RWI has helped me through a lot of lonely nights curled up in the corner sobbing about what I had. For that I am grateful to all my RWI family who picked me up and got me back into the rep game...

This thread about what is arguably the most ostentatious of wrist watches ever made (let's ignore Jacob & Co.), has taken a quite different turn than anticipated. While it boggles my mind that someone can own hundreds of watches, we had someone like this here on RWI before: a gentleman who collected every Panerai every made, prototypes included, and he too had custom-made cabinets for his collection.

Use the search function for "show me your collection in one photo" and prepare to be amazed!

I for one find it utterly entertaining how many people cannot wrap their head around someone who suffers from the collecting virus. I personally know three people with classic car collections of several hundred cars each.

Doc, nice collection. If I was you I would consider the source of one of your favorite Rainbows. Hillbilly himself. He does tungsten builds but his prices have become quite high IMO. Considering his service as a one stop shop, and timeliness, the premium may be worth it to you. As im sure you know, he is not a trusted dealer here and I am not recommending him and personally wouldn't do business with him again due to his pricing.

As far as trusted dealers and one stop shop parts providers I would also inquire with AMF, The Watch Mansion, and Popup. Although I do not think AMF does tungsten yet but things changes rapidly in this hobby. Doesn’t hurt to ask them.

I have been in a recent discussion with Hillbilly in which I wear the used Hillbilly socially and bought a new one from him as a spare. The used one I bought from another member on the Discord and the new one from Hillbilly was appx $2700. Hillbilly if I remember correctly is from China which was okay but involved a lot of time. Anyway I asked him to make me a tungsten model, and during the discussion, I‘LL never forget him literrally screaming at me that he no longer does tungsten as they peel and “PLEASE DONT ASK ME AGAIN”. I guess I pissed him off with my questions. I have messages left for Popup on What’s up and Telegram and they have been unanswered over the last 4-5 days. I do have another private source I’m working with on trying to get more tungsten rainbows.

Popup is solid but patience is key with him. Decent prices are the tradeoff in that regard.

Popup's responses can be pretty unpredictable when it comes to answering questions — sometimes it's just a few minutes, other times it might take days. Rest assured, he will answer your question.
