Not only that, but just because someone else thinks a $50 rep isn't good enough for them and they better spend $500 doesn't mean someone else won't be happy saving hundreds.
It's funny, a forum in which often people don't think the extra value is worth the difference to gens contains folks who don't understand when someone draws the value line further down.

I would not necessarily agree with that. A good rep is well received on here whether it costs $30 or 3K. There just happens to be a lot of junk out there. This thread is invaluable for weeding it out. I have had some junk from Ali but some really gen like stuff too. The TDs are just more consistent in terms of quality, therefore they command a higher price. Most of them can get you real cheapies too if you want.

And you're free to think that. I just think it's hypocritical.

I completely agree. I have relieved 8 watches from AE. Two from TDs.

I wear TWO from AE often. The other six are in pieces in my watch tool box. I enjoy deal hunting. Wasting 60 bucks on these watches doesn't bother me so much, as I can take them apart and gain more then 60 dollars worth of knowledge.

Granted, it's an expensive way to learn, but it works. I have a seamaster and yachtmaster both I have modded here that I love.. But unfortunately the seller disappeared. Actually emailed me saying they were leaving the REP business as its not a life to live they said.. Lol but I agree. I think people look out for each other on here. I do think people can be closed minded on here, but you take it with a grain of salt.

It's your money, your wrist, your everything. Ultimately, your choice. :)

Now that I do agree 100% with and yes offshoreaccount I get where you are coming from. Yes there are people here who are looking for precision to the gen, anything outside that is not acceptable, that makes up for 99% of reps lol. I don't think they actually buy many watches. The ones that do buy and need to create gen like precision make it their passion to modify until they have achieved that. I understand there is some bias against low priced reps (I am not among those who are biased, you will see I am quite active on this thread). But that is just their opinion, and it does not effect me in the slightest.

The reality is IMHO people are on this forum for a variety of reasons. I still have not figured out why I am on it, I would never admit it is an addiction and I need help lol.

That's the first step! [emoji23] got to do that! I'm addicted and the Mrs knows.. But she's addicted to her makeup collection. So it evens out [emoji23]

Maybe that was harsh. I'm not saying that you are wrong for drawing your value/quality line higher, I'm calling out those who look down on those who draw that same line somewhere else. If you disagree but can respect it's someone's choice that's fine.

A quote that I will never forget, from the watchmaker that works on my stuff: "you would not believe the flaws I see on gens." So no matter if you pay $30, $300, $3k or $30k it is hard to find perfection. Yes I see the hypocrisy you are alluding to alright and I too find it ridiculous, gen owners looking down on rep owners, looking down on lesser quality rep owners. Where does that end? lol

I just don't believe the majority of people on the forum discriminate against other rep owners choices. But yes I would concede some do.

Here is a link to a review of a $95 Ali special. https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/275857-95-SMP-300-Diver-Review I love this watch.

Fair enough. I've got a YM II, navitimer, and portuguese on the way, all sub $100. The portuguese has a white face and two blue subdials, so I am not expecting 100% accuracy (as I haven't been able to find it). I'll post some photos once they show though. Mainly I just wanted a few extra mechanicals haha. Hopefully it can help some others sort through AE.

What you can acutally get from Aliexpress with a bit of research

I just received the quartz moon watch with date function today. It's based on the model 311.30.44.50.01.001

I bought it from Aaron's Special Watches: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1948844?spm=2114.10010108.0.39.JPRRUd
Link: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot-...ity-All-dials-work-Stainless/32518511724.html

Unfortunately mine has a white datewheel with black text, unlike the gen and the one posted a few pages back.

The bracelet wasn't great and didn't fit the case well. I think it's the same bracelet that comes on all speedmaster watches i've bought (from Ali and TDs). It feels a bit flimsy and light. I swapped it for some vintage leather.

Unfortunately the subdials aren't recessed, which is one of the features of the moon watch I love

Very weak lume =(

The subdials: @3 is a 24 hour hand, @6 is a running seconds (ticks like a quartz and is hacking), @9 is a chrono minutes. The chrono seconds hand also ticks, which is a bit fugly. Chrono hands reset to zero

As previously mentioned, the date can only be set by winding the hour/minute hands.

Crown is screw down

The crystal is domed

Overall, it's ok value given the price, but it certainly doesn't scratch my moonwatch itch so I'll have to keep looking around

Thanks for the pictures and movement shot especially. I'm gonna look into sourcing a black date wheel for the OS20 now I know what movement it runs on (Aaron never replied to my query on that)

Looking forward to seeing the results. Once you are happy with a watch it makes no difference what someone else thinks. One exception https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/284245-real-or-fake-60k-rolex?highlight=60k, whoever wears this one I would really have to question, because it is just ugly.

Nice and cheap! Rolex Day and Date arrived today.

I'm impressed with this one. I think this one is comparable to ones that were sourced from TD's and reviewed here...

What you think?
