Is it a coincidence that I made a couple purchases from Ali recently and now there was a fraudulent attempt on my card that came from China ?

Same thing happened to me. I cancelled my CC immediately. But I still feel its a coincedence since the sellers dont see the actual credit card info. AE is basically the chinese version of Ebay.

Yep! That's a more secure and common practice. All my sellers usually ask that. It leaves the evidence of actual pics off AE

Some of these sellers on AE use the names of our trusted dealers. Very, very trustworthy...

That makes these AE shops totally look like scammers. I would never buy from them. I'm actually willing to pay a prime and buy from our TDs, although I know that this neither exclude all risks.

Thanks for this! I could have just bought a metal band for my moon watch :| ohh well, no worries. Lots of cool straps in there. I'm really impressed with Malio Straps for leather straps and a few other sellers here too. When I can I will support them first. As far as the watches... you can definitely tell the difference between a TD watch and something from AE. I really didnt have a choice on the Monaco one so I went ahead and got this quartz version. For the Patek... I like it in photos, but not sure if I will like it in person or grow tired of the shape, so before I drop $250-$300 I want to feel it out first.

Sure. I'm 100% conviced that there is also an intime, trusty time or chazingtime shop on AE.

I only checked once there and the first one I got was "puretime" followed by "tororosso" ...

The Toro one looks feasible but the Puretime one???????????????
I severely doubt Angus would sell cr@p like that. For example the batons on the Seamaster 300 "Spectre" look like they were drawn on in crayon by a 3 yr. old.

I would t doubt some are on it. Why pass up a huge market? But I highly doubt they'd be under their name. Just because of this and other forums.

But then they would have the same pricing like on their websites, maybe even more expensive since good ole Ali surely also wants his tribute. Or they would run it like a low cost branch, without QC pics, refunds, replacements etc... - and then definitely under a different name.

These guys are everything but not stupid and they will not risk their reputation whcih they earned in the rep forums and which generates good business for them.

Plus: Look at the English in these shops and all the mistakes (jap, I know, I'm also not perfect) - if you ever had businnes with Angus, Toro, Sead, Ryan... you'd see the difference.
