What is a Trusted Dealer?

Not too many years ago on the old board those of us who bought watches considered them as friends and fellow hobbyists. Then came the new sites and the rest is Greed. Facts are facts, and this has been going on far too long. To try and control pricing with intimidation and such is bad business any way you stroke it.
Every member here & other forums has a vote by his or her pocket book. Think about it next time you whip that card out.

My opinion is very strong on this one....

The problem only goes away if you do not purchase from the cartel dealers, or the dealers that comply with them. I honestly think we have gotten close to the max that the forums can support as far as cost... many of the latest models are not sell-outs, lilke the ap roo. And based on the price war of the sa v1 vs. v2 there is definetly room to bring the cost down.

there is allot of room to bring the cost down in my opinion.

Absolutely... I have a Super Avenger Ultimate on the way, from a dealer not represented on this board.
Price is SIGNIFICANLY less...

Ther are many dealers in GZ who are 'insignificantly LOL, less... the price a consumer pays is no website, email catalogs, and pay

with wu.... the upside? even with WU? Is much of less than cartel, access to all watches, and not boolshite about price fixing pr

threats.....

and life goes on, and some get it, and some are happy with fleecing shears..

Life is Good!

Damn, reading this is like reading War and Peace. I've been busy and hope to one day finish reading all of the thread.

I have bought from Andrew. I loved his communication, ease of shopping and general service. I knowingly and willingly over-paid for the "trusted" service. I praised him on this board many times and rightfully so. He deserved it.

I always assumed price-fixing just as I assume price-fixing among gas stations on the same block. Intimidation? I didn't really think about that. I do worry that our openly talking about this has put the smaller-dealers physical safety at risk. Ask our mods from St. Louis and Chicago how that would go over in their neck of the woods. Concrete shoes?

I do now see how paying above-the-price for the cartel's watches hurts other members. I will never do it again.

p.s. Andrew also screwed me on my last order and lied to my face (email).

To me a trusted dealer is someone who sells me what im promised and shown in the pictures.. has an accurate description, stands by his product and gives me the best possible price he can... no bullshit terminology and not passing off ETA clones as ETA's. With that being said...

A trusted dealer is NOT someone who LIES about "waterproofing" and "extra seals" or yeah and my favorite "pre-servicing" LOL
(all bullshit 100% by the way see the "little white lies" thread)..

http://forum.replica-watch.info/php...4975&p=127375&hilit=little+white+lies#p127375

A trusted dealer is NOT someone who threatens the competition into raising their price to fuck the customers out of their hard earned money.

I have never bought from Jandrew and i never will.. why would I? Ever since the little white lies and the extra charge for waterproofing and pre-service that was NEVER done to any watch that went out.. yet people still buy from them? I can get the same watch from Hont or Angus (with the same or better customer service) for LESS money. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Anyone who stands by the cartels gangster business practices is either getting their cock sucked by someone, or is on their payroll. I work hard for my money and want the best value possible.

I dont like buying "blood diamonds" and i guess its sorta the same thing.. I wont buy any "blood watches" either.

yes, that is correct. in many cases the prices have been artificially manipulated from the factory to your dealer. even if your dealer is a non cartel dealer, the customer is paying an even more artificially inflated price. this is the main reason i haven't bought anything since last october, i am not going to be a party to this any longer.

You know HK... this may be the 1st (or 2nd...) time I've ever seen eye to eye with you...
I personally haven't purchased a new rep watch since November of 07' (I did recently acquire one off the 2nd hand market though...) The overall price-hiking combined with no change in quality control or customer service has pushed me into the Gen markets...
Like you said, I was also spending the neighborhood of 1k or so a month on this hobby... now I just get a new watch a few times a year from an AD and don't have to mess with the drama that I've watched unfold.

My first rep came from Andrew, the watch shipped quickly, arrived safely and was exactly as described. Couldn't be happier with the watch, in fact I still wear it. I've also purchased many from Josh. His communication with me has been top-shelf. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than an hour for a clear concise reply. Never had a problem buying from either. The "little white lies thread" and Cartel mess occurred and I re-evaluated my choice of dealers...
I got burnt by TWP in November and that was my final straw... Took some time off from the forums and still haven't started buying reps again.

I have somewhat rediscovered my rep-addiction and would love to find a dealer I can trust... both to deliver as promised, but to also be a good productive member of the rep forums. I'll have to do a bit of research before I buy another rep from a dealer... Am I the only one that misses EddieLee? :?:

I'd love to see the admin pm's on the Hont issue now the cat's out the bag... :)

I know that you would love to... and before I was on staff, I used to always wonder what happened behind closed doors.... my first act as a staff member was to peruse the admin section to see all the past threads... so trust me, I understand and appreciate the curiosity...

You will not see any staff member's pm's nor any admin section threads published in the open forum... this has never been done before and to do so now would set a precedent that I do not want to set... what happens in the admin section stays in the admin section...

This is not because we have anything to hide but has more to do with the fact that we do not feel our motives nor integrity should be questioned on this... I can tell you that the admin discussion concerning this started on July 17th (my wife's b-day btw) and has continued till now... if the honor of the staff is not sufficient for the members of this community to believe us then we have much bigger problems then being discussed here...

Remember, the prohibition of posting any admin section information extends beyond threads such as these to various other matters having to do with the board.

Should anyone wish to discuss this matter, please pm me directly.... for the purposes of this thread, the matter is closed...
I have actually been pm'd by various senior members regarding this issue and in no way doubt the staff's integrity on the matter. What would be reassuring for members would be a word or two from Hont about the events which led to all this hullabuloo...
Finally it's been implied that dave123 is now an ex-member, I know he has a certain manner which winds people up but is this true? :?

If he is shit talking at the rent-a-site, why not ban him? If I ran a business and a customer was shit-talking the store to others, I would ban them and not accept their business. I like 123, but if that is the case, he should not be a member here! IMHO!

not to ban, imo, is good policy, and also increases the 'comedic effect' - and lord know we can do with some humor on boards..

i know exactly what you mean about the gens. i said the hell with it and bought my wife and i new rolex's.

you would think there would be a dealer out there somewhere that would have wanted that much business wouldn't you. this type of thing is what happens when they get too greedy. they were very successful at driving you and i away for the tune of a 25,000.00 per year loss weren't they?

as for your question about eddie lee, no, i don't miss him at all. my very first order was placed with him and the deal went very very bad, i lost 867.00. back then when i came to the old forum to tell mt story i was drawn and quartered for saying anything bad about el. no matter what happened you couldn't say anything bad about a popular dealer. i almost walked away from this hobby before i got started.
