lying to your customers about the products and price gouging aren't worthy of banning? i guess i need an explanation because i don't understand. if a regular member repeatedly did that he would be banned immediately. what is the difference here? we need to try and protect our membership from anybody that does that. dealers are not excluded just because they are dealers.

No doubt Sean, but J&A have been strong-arming dealers for a while now. Ask TWP or Ruby. If we had banned them on all boards after the white lies thread, we would have made a difference. We have lost our power to some extent.

It really boggles the mind at how highly those two guys are regarded, and how easily the membership will forget their transgressions.

I suspect that there will always be people willing to buy from Jandrew. But what we can do is make sure that every member is fully aware of the facts behind Jandrew's business tactics before they purchase anything from them. And that may make a difference in the long term.

yet people normally go towards the better mousetrap..

and is normal good practice not to speak ill of others, for

they can do that themselves quite handily..

unless they are afraid to speak out or feel they are in a position where they cannot speak for them selves.

Just for the record I voted for the "warning" option in the poll. But in re-thinking my vote, who is really benefiting from that. It will always stand that anyone can purchase from whomever dealer they choose. But why would we contimue to promote one dealer that is hostile to another dealer? If these allegation are true and if Andrew does not respond in the thread Seanf started, what good is a warning anyway just the proverbial slap on the wrist. Either there is consequences for bad behavior or we are not only promotiong it but endorsing it too.

Just for curiosity if banning is counterproductive, why is it?

The cartel has a lot of people's personal information (e.g. paypal, address, name, credit card etc.). They know exactly who is who on this board. I hope they have the class to eat said information and not exploit anyone.

While you are certainly correct, how many members actually care about what

happens between dealers.. with 'proof' or without?

High prices have not seemed to stop buyers.. back when asian subs were selling for $50-$60 they sold..

and they sell now at $125-$108...

of course, perhaps some have held this line with $1,000.00 reps..

change of topic.. lol.. who wishes to think of identity theft..

Yikes! I don't even want to think about them exploiting our private (and financial) information. I agree that if they ever did, they'd be done.
For me, that would do it, I would stop buying reps completely.

Thankfully, it is highly likely that they have no wish to kill us,

at the same time, it is also the reason that I personally prefer

to use Western Union..

I think it is not that difficult to define a trusted dealer. Someone who is honest and ethical in bussiness. Politeness or fast shipment etc. are welcome but lack of them isn't enough to consider someone "un-trusted". Trying to set higher prices using non-ethical methods against other dealers is definitely dishonest aginst the customer, as he is forced to pay more than he should for no apparent (from the customer's side) reason.

thats interesting Tak... so as soon as Andrew got honts phone number, the factory mysteriously called Hont with a higher wholesale price? That price seems a little out of line for a factory price. So andrew and the factories are working together to raise the prices for the little guys?

if you can't outright get rid of the competition make it to where they cannot be competitive. this is common practice in business. when you are the factories best customer you have much more pull with them than the little guy does. shady business at best yet people still flock to them and pay exuberant prices for the same products. some people have more money than sense i guess.

Silent member here applauds your 24K gold character. I find the opposite tone on a competitor forum.
I think that some of us are so thrilled to own reps of these out of reach watches that we will put up with anything ( almost ) to own them, especially not pissing off a dealer ( very approprite word. I'm a rep " junkie." )

Some thoughts :
To my limited knowlege, Josh, though guilty of " white " lies ( big LOL) hasn't been proven to be connected to this strong -arm incident.
The dollar has steadily declined vs. the yuan. This may not explain the rise in prices totally but it is a fact that has to be accepted.

That being said, this is a fascinating and valuable thread and should go on in another form.
What I suggest is a forum topic devoted to finding new, reliable dealers and / or criticizing them.

I truely appreciate what you are doing here. Bravo.
