Replace DW and hands for me. I'll be practicing on my old reps from the Grand Bazaar about 10 years ago before I try on newer ones. I tend to kill hands, especially when puting them back on. :(

I highly recommend this little device. Horotec Hand Press. Has made my hand swapping life MUCH less stressful :)

One arrived in the mail about 2 weeks ago. Good to have an endorsement. :)

Guys it might just me as a junior horological hobbyist but I have found that the hands always blemish even when I used plastic tipped tools... I still make a lot of errors and the hands fall on top of each other so that could be it.. I typically hold the hand with puddy, line it up then press with a pen tool.. any tips from real watchsmiths?? As always, thanks

Unboxed and straight to the wrist for you guys. In my opinion, it needs a new date wheel, crystal and hands.

Can you post some more pictures of different dates please? I own many gens and those dates dont look bad at all. Not like some of those other crappy 5 digit ones that came out on JF watches.

1) buy the tool I shared in the above post
2) buy 1mm Delrin tipped tweezers to handle the hands (less likely to scratch them)
3) gently set the hand in place on the pinion.
4) gently use the delrin tweezers to line it up perfectly
5) don’t touch it or hold it with putty.
6) use the hand press tool to set the hand

I have fairly steady hands and when I used pen tools in the past the hands would rotate/move slightly while I pressed them in place. This isn’t a huge deal on a submariner... but causes a problem on chronograph movements and GMT movements where accuracy is imperative. Hand Press for the win. Should help decrease blemish and increase accuracy. It’s not cheap, but after experiencing the increased precision it’s my new favorite tool.

I just want to check with the eagles here about the cyclops. I find it misaligned. Is it just the angle the guy is holding it? And I didn't see any officiall y dial print. Is it a good batch? Unfortunately the date font do seem a bit bold.

ineedhelpnow yeah another member has observed that vsf cyclops are closer to center than gen/other sub rep crystals.. as far as your qc you can try your luck with another to get less thick datewheel and officiall Y but this watch is already pretty much as good as it gets with VSF.. imho

A couple of important observations.
The hands that people are saying they would change, well these are superb, no sharp edges, nicely bevelled and next to my friends gen look really good. They do have a 3 d effect and the lume is exact with the markers and lasts all night..

Date wheel , the cyclops has a higher magnification at an angle than straight down.. when looked at straight the DW is spot on compared to his gen from 2016.. will try to do side by side when i next meet up.

Bracelet is simply stunning quality...
