I would prefer the correct CG but have absolutely no problem accepting a brushed one ( for the time being ) I have been wanting the 88 for years. Furthermore most of the REPs we discussed here have dial, case, movement, strap & x-tal imperfections vs GEN.

It's a REP, imperfection is part and parcel of the hobby. Getting a part that has been done correctly before all wrong is not an imperfection. You want to accept a wrong CG and an incorrect GMT, and spend more to get at least the CG fixed because you want the watch so much, go ahead it's your money. Given enough resources, you can turn a DHGate special into an acceptable rep. But not everyone has resources and even if they had won't even spend those resources trying to fix something that should not have needed fixing in the first place.

First this is VSF first attempt on the 88. I.e this has not been correctly executed before by this factory on earlier releases. Second despite incorrect CG & GMT I will be more than happy with the watch. I have no plans to mod the watch in any way or form with the exception of a new strap. Third if you are comparing this VSF 88 to a DHgate pieces you are way off...

Hmm, about VSF, a while ago they also did 531 beautiful watch with a wrong GMT and still no fix for it. :(

First, the Noob PAM088 was the factory's first and only release of this watch. And as just mentioned by Altoronto, this is not the first time VSF has made a mistake with the GMT. They already knew they messed up on that watch. Fool me once... Second, great, you're happy with the watch, incorrect CG and all. But i doubt most would be happy with mistakes that could have been avoided. Third, I was not comparing the VSF 88 to a DHGate watch. I clearly said "Given enough resources, you can turn a DHGate special into an acceptable rep." I was referring to resources, i.e. money, time, which not all members have.

I get Mysterio's comments as much as Johnlogan's. If some of us are willing to spend time and/or money on solving flaws on an uncorrect stock watch, good for us. If some accept errors that make a rep almost a fantasy watch, good for us.

Nonetheless, an experienced factory such as VSF widely offering a long awaited model with major building errors (repeated errors from the past on top of that), it's not something the community can be happy with.

I like working my watches (with more or less success LOL), but that's just on me. Selling faulty watches shamelessly like VSF is doing with this 088 is not a good way to do business for sure.
And relying on very efficient models is not an excuse to produce shitty ones on the side.

I hope Noone takes this the wrong way but I agree with mrsullivan . I never intend to point out the flaws to attack the owners or discourage others from buying but isn't striving to achieve close to perfection really a big part of this passion?

With that said, I am sure the overall build quality of the watch itself will be amazing. I have had and still own many older Pams with less obvious flaws but just look cheap due to the lack of quality in the finish and materials used lol.

I have been waiting for 88 for a long time after missing out on the noob release, so I hope VSF corrects some of these obvious tells in the near future and they will help me go bankrupt sooner haha

H factory got it right the first go around as well. here's my franken vs a stock Hfactory. Miles better than this release. Completely acceptable out of the box. While sometimes it's fun to go search out obscure parts to try and correct flaws, overall it gets irritating and annoying especially considering that most of these flaws could be easily addressed by the maker. Some, like the lack of a capped running seconds hand I can accept and overlook because from arms length you can't tell the difference even if you know you're looking for it. Even the incorrect GMT hand rotation I could probably overlook if I desperately wanted one and this was the only option available to me. That crown guard is such a simple and blaringly obvious error though.

The GMT hand is lined up with the inside of the hand triangle with the inside end of the minute markers, and the triangle itself should be isosceles with a fairly thick border.

In the photo on the right, the gmt's arm really looks longer, I hope this is just the specifics of the angle.

But the arm length gmt is not exactly the length of the minute arm. Photo of my 089hf's hands, the shape of the triangle is not perfect, but the proportion is correct.

Left is stock Hfactory, right is franken with genuine hands.

Looks great :)[/QUOTE]

If needed I can line up the hands like above on either my franken 088 or genuine 237. I only have a replica H factory 089 for comparison in hand now. The H factory 088 in the picture is long gone.

Agreed, but I weighed up the fact that I want this more than I'm bothered about the CG, so I've ordered one too!

Gods own country! Yorkshire.
Not sure about the peppermint lume colour compared to the gens softer green but that pales compared to the monumental cock up with the movement! A real shame VSF.

Regardless of the accuracy or inaccuracy of details, those QC pics scream quality. I bet the overall feeling on the wrist will be very gen-like. The CG shape looks great too. I wonder if there is an easy way to just polish it....

You can probably get it polished. Easy, but will cost some money.
