You would have to manufacture two gears with the appropriate gear ratio to get the arc length sweep on the center gear to be 1/2 of it's current. This is of course not taking into account any other mechanical stress on the movement (additional tension, bigger angular momentum on portions of the movement). I am going off my mechanical engineering knowledge here, but idk how stable just swapping out those two gears out to the correct ratio would be.

Can't you use the same gear on the hour hand? Or link it to the hour hand movement? Or it doesn't work that way?

I think if the hour hand and the GMT hand used the same gear then they'd run the same way. Meaning you don't have independent control of the GMT hand and hour hand as you should.

You wouldn't be able to independently set the gmt hand. Not to mention I doubt you can have two hands driven from one gear. I imagine you'd have to modify the canon pinion.

Indeed, the rotor is too loud IMHO. One fast swing with your arm and you can hear the watch from 1.5 meters away...lol
What can we do to silence the rotor? Anyone?

Also the strap looks great! Is the strap useable in terms of quality and durability or should I get a aftermarket?

No, it's unfortunately not resolved and I don't have any idea what actually can be done to make it more quiet. ...:heehee: maybe not wear it :bolt:
Anyway my VSF441 is under repair atm but I will check if something concerning the rotor changed when I get it back.

Hey guys, I've read through the posts, just to confirm my understanding; the GMT hand on the rep moves around the dial in 24 hours, like most other GMT watches (Rolex explorer, breitling Navitimer World), however the gen 441 GMT hand moves around the dial every 12 hours.

Is this correct? If so, I don't see it as such a big deal, I think it's more helpful moving around at 24 hours anyway.

Also, does the VSF version have the movement function to move the hour hand independently and also to reset the seconds to 0?

Personally it has never been really a big deal considering I don't really rely on the GMT hand.

Nope, the movement does not enable you to adjust the hour hand independently and the resetting of the second hand, as per gen. It's basically, first indentation is for date and GMT hand, second indentation is for increasing or decreasing hour and min hand.

Ok thanks for the info. I know the VSF version has been talked about in this thread, has anyone considered the HF version, at the bottom of this link are some side by side pics with the gen:

Frankly speaking when VSF announced the 441 it had been rumoured that the case was by V6F or now known as XF, which coincidentally isexactly what you see in the link (V6F case w VSF mvt).

I'm not sure if there are any price differences, but sure does seem like the same watch to me.
