I have the black dial gen and latest VSF rep and whilst the rep has a slight off white hue compared to the gen - most of the time I can hardly notice it and really in my opinion the rep is so good I would just not worry about it. I love this watch and having the rep is great as I can enjoy it when doing stuff I would not wish to expose a £4k watch to like manual stuff and sport. In the evening if it has not been exposed to any natural light during the day - the dials are indistinguishable - both white.

My view anyway for what its worth.

Totally agree.

Yes, lighting in a boutique plays a huge role in the perception of lum color.

exactly. I saw the blue GEN just an hour ago at a friends wrist and the lume was not perfectly white as well. (in bright daylight)

That combined with the fact that the lume is a different shade then the bezel insert markings leads me to believe this is a rep.

There was also a slight difference between the lume colour and the colour of the markers in the bezel inlay at the GEN I just saw.

I am just playing the odds....
I think that the odds are good that if someone would buy the gen watch head, they would not buy a VSF bracelet & I am almost 100% sure that is a VSF Bracelet.

I agree on this. The odds that this is REP are quite high.

But chances its a REP are quite high cuz of small CG. Thanks jpchub for pointing that out. :)

So I guess it can happen if the lume is loaded or if the shade of the lume is not appearing in clear white as the bezel inlay markers are clear white.

100% yes. You will see this in some pics and not in others just because of the angle and the lighting. The hour hand has this same contour/bend on the same area of that hand and once again sometimes it can be seen and others it can not. It shows up more that one side of the hand looks shinny and bright and the other looks like it is in the shade. I am quite sure this is intentional and is correctly done.

Cool, just wanted to confirm that. Lume mismatch on the hands is still annoying the hell out of me, but literally all other signs point to a GL Pending a shot of the word "Professional" to GL it. Guess I'll have to take a chance to see if I'm willing to live with the lume mismatch. My TD also hinted that this may not be a batch issue and just VSF getting sloppy..

I think think the real problem is that they foolishly have different suppliers lume the hands and dials. If they were done at the same time by the same vendor this mismatch would not be possible

I did write back to the guy saying I suspect the black is also a rep, and he said he knows the customer well and it is not. I conclude he decided he did not want to do the work for some reason, maybe for the same reason as the other guy on this forum who also turned down the work and said risk to the hands to high when reluming.

lol....
knowing a customer has nothing to do with a watch being a rep or not. No need to question the watchmaker any more, but I would question this watchmakers knowledge. If he doesn't have the ability to look at an open case back watch and glance at the movement and be able to tell between an Omega movement and an Asian ETA with a Decorative bridge on top of it then I'm not sure I want him working on my watches....

Yeah, it would make things work a whole lot better. But oh well, it’s still a rep at the end of the day. Ended up GL-ing my watch a day or two ago. Obsessing over the lume will drive me insane and might lead me to get a gen. Looked perfect in this shot.

It’s the same watch from the shots I posted a couple of posts before, just in different lighting. Doubt there will be a new “batch” per se as I saw someone on reddit who got his QC a couple of days before mine and the lume was a perfect match. Guess it all boils down to luck.

Ahh ok.

So comparing with ur first QC shots the light can really change a lot.
I think its an batch issue. first all hands and dial were fine, then the hands and dial were off white, now only the hands are off white. So I think they updated the Dial and had some Hands left, as soon as the hands are also used up there might be a chance that the new hands match the dial again.
Lets see if the hands will become the same as the dial. If so I will order another SMP 300.

Exactly what I thought, but according to my TD, that might not be the case so I’m going to stop overthinking a rep and just get it. If I really can’t live with it, could always sell it off.

Good attitude. I also got one SMP and I think its always possible to relume if it bothers me.
Just wanted to say, that if they fix this (and I think there is a good chance) I will get one white dial additionally to my black/RG.

For the sake of my sanity, I hope they don't fix it anytime soon!

ffs these early VSF version were awesome considering the yellow lume we get now. Best summer watch on a rubber strap

Agreed. Rubber is the best looking option for this watch in my opinion, plus it's the most comfortable. I hope that VSF fixes this idiotic flaw, they obviously can make proper lume, it's evident on my watch. They must have gotten a truckload of yellow lume for cheap after the first batch :D

I see it's your 1st anniversary on this forum, congrats ;) !
