I am glad to hear that yours was fixed. For the same reasons as you, this isn't something that I will try. Hopefully Michal tells me that it's simple a loose cannon pinion when he does the service. I plan on keeping this watch for some time and plan on adding a gen setting lever and intermediate winding wheel - the one with the spring washer - since those have been noted to fail by other members.

I just happend to notice it the other day. When I looked at the time it was an hour behind. I just thought I set the time wrong until I noticed it was behind after setting it again. I will post back when / if it gets fixed. Fingers crossed.

Is Michal a watchmaker on RWI? Is he CONUS based?

Yes, He is.

watchservicesny is his username here.

I have also used oascom

Both are CONUS based and very skilled. I don't htink oascom does 4130s though...I may be wrong though. Watchserviceny does excellent work on 4130s.

With them both being great CONUS based watchmakers, they are both pretty booked but definitely worth the wait times.

Ahhh yes. I reached out to both oascom and watchservicesny first, but they both were super booked up (and deservedly so!). So I ended up going local. By the way, when setting the time on mine before the repair, the hands felt super loose (ie very little resistance when turning the crown to set time). After the repair, time setting felt much better (ie normal, modest resistance when turning the crown to adjust time). I'm by no means a movement expert, but I think loose feeling hands is a tell tale sign of a loose cannon pinion. Perhaps others can chime in with more knowledge.

butler182 Mine feels the same. I had a VSF 116610 that had similar problems. On the 116610, the minute hand would also jump 5-10 minutes when pulling the stem out to set the time. But yes, my 126610 feels very loose when setting the time. I noticed this as soon as I got it but ran fine for a few weeks until now. It will set the 12xx in the box until i send it off.

Need some expertise advice here. Will the keyless work of the 3235 dislodge like the ETAs when the stem release button is pressed too hard?
I don't seem to get it working again after the crown being fell off from unscrewing from the tube, with the stem pulled out and reattached to the crown. When the stem was being pushed into the movement again it failed to engage the keyless work. What could be the problem? Can it be the keyless work is damaged?
Any advices is most appreciated

The setting lever itself might have broke. I had this happen a lot on VS movements, seems like a common failure point.
Easiest to diagnose would be removing the dial, hands and date indicator seating.

Did you press stem release button in winding or hand setting position?

Thanks Nikz19
This is bad news if the setting lever really has broken. I recall you mentioned earlier in this thread about replacement with gen parts to fix such problem. Can you share what are the parts ref nos and the supply source in case I need to go this route
Cheers

I guess so since the crown was already fallen off. I had to press the button at the winding position to pull the stem out.
Is this an issue in causing damages?

Sure, ref for it is 3235-220. Make sure that’s the issue before purchasing.

I'm not sure it makes a huge difference, but I've read you are less likely to mess up the keyless if you press the stem release button in the winding position for Rolex 3xxx movements. And in most of the videos I've seen of professionals servicing Rolex movements, you almost always see the movement ticking away...so presumably most pros press the button in the winding position. Personally, I have 3 VS3235s and have removed the stems from all of them in the winding position without issue.

The dial is 'pressure' fitted. It has some indentations that match the plate. You can use a screwdriver (carefully) to pry it up as you'll find a gap.

But better to do it with the flat end on one of these:

Random question - how come you want to swap the cannon pinion?

You need to use a cannon pinion removal tool, they come in a few shapes, but this is a 'presto' tool. (the cheap Ebay black ones won't catch the pinion well).

Alternatively you can use a pair of tweezers (not brass) to pull it out, must be done in a straight up motion.

Thanks; I bought the tool, but I managed to remove it with my Bergeon tweezers.. My minutes and hour hands were going slow, where as the seconds was keeping up.. so I was told it was the cannon pinion. I bought an original Rolex one which fitted ok. Now when I move the hands I can feel a bit of resistance... it was like moving the crown in the air before; so minutes were slipping on the axle.

I posted a new thread about my new issues, seconds hand came off the little cylinder which locks on the axle. But I found hand online on Ebay for 126610... so I will replace the seconds hand when I get it, and hopefully my Sub VSF is back in one piece soon :)

Dial seems to just come off on these clones, not pressure fitted. Seems to be held in place by the case?
