THANK YOU was literally about to post. My gen Crystal is flush with gen gasket which means the DW isn’t quite right. Let’s hope it holds up to WR testing

I haven't WR tested mine, but I feel pretty confident it'll hold up to anything I do, which is light swimming in the pool.

Are you going with the 2.7mm gasket?

Mine has been tested at 6 ATM.
I have used a gen Tubus, gen crown, gen crystal and gen gasket.

FWIW, some differences between the Viet Nam crystal that comes with the case vs a Clark's gen spec crystal from eBay. Both are close in thickness, but the channel the gasket fits in are different. The VN crystal will sit higher and comes with a 2.5mm gasket which may provide enough hands clearance. The Clark's gasket is available in different heights. I used a 2.7mm gasket with gen crystal on my build. A 2.5 would not allow sufficient clearance for the hands.

The VN crystal's channel is also flat bottomed which can't really be seen in this photo. The Clark's is rounded inside which seems to me it would provide a slightly better seal.

Hi Guys,

to finish my 16700 project I'm searching for Rolex 600 crown.

If somebody has one in their boxes I'm looking forward to get a message! :)

Many Thanks for Support!

Damn why didn't I find this thread earlier?
I have my 16710 t<25 dial and coke insert + xtal waiting because it can't be swap to the JVS rep (which is an ok rep). Until now I know there're mid case manufacture in Vietnam and it's not far from my house.
Looking at all the beautiful franken GMT make me wanna cry.

This is probably old news but they're making the Viet 16570 Exp. II case, correctly labeled.
I picked up one from a great guy here in thr community about a year or so ago for about $750-ish
Gen parts serif and/or open 6/9 date ( still undecided which route I'll tke there ), trit dial and hands, 295-C12 crystal and bezel but still lack the correct crown/tube/stem and 78790/A.
Does anyone happen to know the correct crown and tube for the Explorer II ?
I want to say it like 5330 or 5320 tube with 24-600 crown but it;s been a minute since Ive handled the GMT models and I just dont remember for sure.

You can get a really excellent 78790 bracelet with hollow links (not the 78790A bracelet with SEL) via a group order arranged by markiemark.

GEN = 5330 tube, 603 crown

VIET = same midcase as the 16710 discussed in this thread. You need a 6020 tube w/ 600 crown (confirmed - it’s what’s on my build). Now there’s a new tube since 600 crowns have been discontinued. The 6330 tube is the replacement for the 6020 tube and you can use 603 (maybe 604) crown with it. I haven’t tried this, but those 6020/600 parts are getting harder to find and $$$.

good luck with the explorer build, it’s next on my list!

Which movement would you recommend to buy for this build?

VR3185
VR3186
VS3135 (to be converted in 3185, don’t know if w/rep or gen parts)

VR3185 and VR3186 are the same thing

VR3186 is just VR3185 engraved to 3186

The last one will probably set you back + ~$1000 for the gen parts, so without question the VR variant is best. I don’t know about the v2 which hides the stems behind the balance but the initial release it ticking just great in my build
