It doesn't matter to me if a person kneels down and prays towards Mecca five times a day or worships a god that passes out magic underwear and lives on the planet Kolob...I could care less! I just don't believe in a god that would require men to carry out crimes or acts of violence against other men in order to force conversions while he/she/it sits idly by and does nothing... This sounds more like lies made up to further man's greedy agenda and a bunch of brainwashed nuts that are incapable of knowing right from wrong because their moral compass has been so covered by lies for so long that they've lost their ability to think for themselves and blindly carry out whatever sick act their controllers wish for them to do...
There's a huge difference in being sent to the Guillotine in 1977 as Capitol punishment for horrible crimes and some lunatic screaming "Alluha Akbar!" while sawing a persons head off with a butcher knife in the middle of a workplace in Oklahoma.. or in Syria or wherever... I'd suggest, that if Islam is truly a religion of love and peace, we should be seeing an enormous cry from it's followers denouncing these atrocities,,, so far the greater majority has been silent,, that also makes me wonder?

Excellent, well worded post.

Governments worldwide need to wake up, grow some balls and put an end to this shit.

Well, it's a known fact that more blood has been spilt in the name of Jesus/Allah/Jaweh/God/ or any number of other mythical beings than for any other reason including any of the numerous land wars, diseases, famines or pestilence in the history of mankind.

Any of the many fundamentalist religious groups, including Christians, have their heads stuck severely up they 14th century ass holes.

I agree with you. And I do agree that the moderates really need to step up and condemn this kind of stuff more so than they are doing now. Usually, society tends to look a blind eye at religious extremists and let them be, but in this case, they are violent and hostile so the muslim community really needs to put this to an end. It was nice to see the 100 imams write the letter to isis condeming their actions but I do wish I saw more denouncement. At this point, you really cant blame non-muslims for assuming that muslims are violent when the extremists are making noise and the moderates are silent.

Love this argument --

How long do you have to go back to find a Christian that cut off someone's head?

I didn't realize we were all of a sudden limiting the discussion to current events.

Current events is what this is about, not who worships what god... violence is a bad thing... I'm on pretty safe ground when I say if you think god told you to saw off someone's head, your insane! I don't care which god you think said it...

And that was my previous post, which you are apparently now discussing. When you discuss religion, it's normally not limited to last week.

Hmmm....no.

You didn't answer the question asked of you directly. I clarified it for the questioner.

Then I clarified for you that the topic was indeed "current".

...just trying to help you realize what you didn't realize.

Red --

He can't answer the question because to defend radical Islam, he must trot out the Crusades and the Inquisition. Progressives are about the here and now, even the future. The only time they go back five-hundred years is to defame religion. They whine and moan that the constitution is two-hundred years old, so get rid of it. And in the next breath, this...

Well guys, I don't mean to throw stones at anyone's religion...
In fact, I'd go so far as to defend any individuals right to worship in any manner they see fit as long as it doesn't infringe on another's civil liberties...I do however believe that when a religion is misunderstood apparently as much as the Islam of today and used by malicious people to harm others, the various leaders of that religion should rise up to defend their peaceful religion and the greater majority should police it to prevent any further perversion of it's teachings and end the violence against innocent people... In fact, if Isis or it's various members care to, they could stop this whole thing right now by laying down their weapons and showing the world what Islam really is about and simply embrace peace and respect the rights of everyone to exist.... Something tells me it's not going to happen.... And Christianity has had it's problems, I'm certainly not defending Christianity's past transgressions but the subject matter for today is the violence that extremist Muslims are choosing to embrace....

"Throw Stones," that's funny Mitch :)

Every religion has had its issues, you know why? Because their members are human beings and human beings are flawed. But to compare what's going on with radical Islam to any other religion is a joke. Calling what happened in Oklahoma "work place violence," is a bigger problem. If we can't even call that what it is - terrorism - there's no way we can combat it. If you don't think radicals everywhere are glued to their TVs watching how weak we are in country, you're crazy as they are...

Fanatical religious beliefs are a mindset. You cannot exterminate it. It can lay dormant for a while. And pop up just like that. What should be dealt with is whether it can get out of hand, grow, and take over. You cant mix folks with different mindsets. Nothing good will ever come out of it. It never ever has. Just like, if there is no war, then there will never be peace. We will never see true peace for as long as disputes continue. Peace has always been a lull before the next storm. Some storms have withered away. Some can stir up more wind and be cause for concern. The best we will ever have in any of our situations today, is control. And controlling all this stuff going on today is the best we can do. That's the way it has always been.
