VC222 - in the works for local buyers (from Xing Patrick)

So i caved in and I ordered the V9F 222 in SS from a non TD that could source it already, I'll post the QC pics when I receive them, supposedly in 3 days. Paid 2200cny + shipping. it probably won't be as nice as the Xing custom, but i'll post dimensions and do a small review when I get it

I would be really curious about the case construction of both Xings and the V9F. The gen 1977 222 screws in from the front, but judging by the pictures Xing provided it looks like a pressfit.
Also his crown tube hole looks to be closer to the front, rather than centered like the gen. So the quartz he chose might have a very shallow pinion height.
I am also curios what quartz he chose, because the gen JLC 920 in the 1977 222 has a very far outboard date position (≈10mm) and most slim/no center seconds hand quartz movements wouldnt fit that (most are 8mm at best). And with max a mm to spare a dwo with spacer would be difficult to fit and not an ideal solution.
In my dreams he would use a peacock 1258 which is basically a patek 324 (which is based upon the 920) and "just" omit the seconds hand...

Aren’t all of these fantasy models except for the YG? I can’t find modern references for any except the YG.

Most people don’t agree with you. It is one of the most beloved features of the 222.
The date window size and location is a problem... I'd be ordering one of these all the same if I wasn't waiting on the Xing vintage one.
If I can ask, how much did the Xing vintage build run you? How did you get his contact details?

Actually there were stainless steel models made in limited numbers as well as two tone. In both men’s and ladies sizes.

I always wanted a two tone myself.
The vintage did come in different models including a rare WG piece sold at Sotherbys. But I think the new 222 release announced this morning is based on the 2022 historique which only has the YG edition.
