I think I will order the blue version of this one. My only question is wether I'll take the bracelet version, the strap version, or both.

I don't like the bracelet, and apparently it's not comfortable to wear because of the weird lug shape.

The only reasons why I'd consider taking the bracelet version is because:

  • It's probably harder to source a steel bracelet than a leather strap
  • I am considering buying a gen bracelet (310€ + 115€ for the buckle...), so I won't need the cheap version
  • Straps are easy to source
I've read good things about this V7F strap though...

What do you guys think?
Buy the bracelet version.
Then buy gen bracelet
Then sell the rep bracelet on the forum for $100 to someone who made the mistake of not buying the bracelet

This. Also a quality leather strap will really make the watch feel better too!

I've got myself the XX Green dial, and having a quite large wrist, I've but the bracelet aside. I'm on the tryout for a nice leather or suede strap in grey, and this will be the best option for me: the rep bracelet is imho a poor one, but buying gen is not worth it (in my opinion).

Buying the bracelet will give you peace of mind later on, when you'd like to sell your watch.

Good luck with your new watch!!

Ok, so I took the plunge and ordered this one from Hont.

Pretty nice watch indeed.

I am just wondering if I can remove the blue color on the crown. I think it's a sticker, but I can't seem to remove it, I've even tried with a plastick toothpick. I obviously don't want to use a metal brush but I don't how else I can remove it.
Or is it supposed to stay like this?

Another thing I'm wondering: is it normal that the watch makes a small sound when I move? I know it's an automatic movement and that's how the watch gets energy, but my CF Rolex Explorer is pretty silent. The IWC I can hear it a couple feet away when I move it.

Use rodico or sticky tape to remove the blue packing sticker thing.

I used clear packing tape last time and it worked great.

Which movement does it have? Some are louder than others, but it's normal for any automatic ro make noise. But a 9015 is typically noisier than a 2892.

I've used some acetone on mine. Works perfectly

I would avoid acetone as if that hits the crystal even a bit you might get some damage to any AR coating. Frankly, the tape or rodico idea work fine. No need for acetone. Isopropyl alcohol if you must, but not acetone!

Is the strap good quality? Is the quick release system sturdy? What can you suggest if I want to change the strap?

yes, which (in my experience) is a 1:1 clone of the ETA 2892A2.

i've received a lot of questions about the movement swap i performed, so i thought i'd just summarize it here real quick.

bought the V7F from Hont, and the original movement had issues within a month. it would not manual wind, and would randomly stop and need to be shaken hard to start up again.

i sourced a new genuine ETA 2892A2 movement from a Swiss dealer, which took about three weeks to arrive in the US. i consider myself a novice, and the swap was still very simple because there are plenty of 2892A2 assembly/servicing walkthroughs and videos out there. besides the hands and face, the only other part that needed to be swapped was the date wheel because it has a custom font, so there was no need to disassemble any of the actual timekeeping parts of the movement. the 2892A2 listing did not specify hand height, but i got lucky and the hands fit perfectly. if they had not, i simply would have swapped the relevant parts from the original movement to the 2892A2.

hope this helps anyone looking to perform a movement swap!

Hi, do you remember if you bought the HH1 or HH2 hand height for your gen 2892 movement? H1 is the standard and HH2 is little bit longer.
