Yes and Yes. Though to me your question with the date change is more important...

Great info! Thanks for the post.

So if the big center second hand did not stop btw 10-2,
shoud I let it run once again until it reaches the position btw. 10-2?

Same with the date quick change.
If my watch stops at lets say 9 pm,
should I adjust the time first to later than 2 am and then adjust the date?

The below is a re-post from RWG1.1 so thanks to greg_r

4. Don’t re-set the chrono with the seconds hand anywhere but between 10 and 2 on the dial.
The reset hammer can slam down very hard onto the heart cams for the seconds and minute counters. This force can cause the seconds hand to slip if the hand is sitting anywhere but between 10 and 2. Even genuine watches can suffer from this problem. A slipping center seconds hand is totally preventable by the owner, all you have to do is make sure you never reset your chrono between anything but 10-2. In addition, DO NOT push the chrono reset pusher (@ 4) while the chrono hand is running. It is also recommended that you resist the temptation to 'play' with the chronos too often - especially on an unserviced movement - as this can increase the chances of problems.

As I said - this post has been collected from comments by various experts on the boards. If more knowledgeable folks than myself have any corrections or observations, do please feel free to comment and I'll correct this post if appropriate. Thanks.
A noob being a noob here .. but is this rule referring to the running seconds hand (the smaller hand) or the big chrono hand ? I would assume it s the running small seconds hand ?

Getting a A7750 soon so this should be very important :D. Also if anyone happens to know a rep friendly watchsmith in the UK please give me a shout, thanks !

bachpham90 No mate we are referring to the chrono hand (the big one). The reason being that inertia can cause it to slip on its pinion if it gets too big a run up.
Do your timing the run the hand around to near 12 before stopping it again and hitting the reset.

very helpful. just got an ROO so i'm glad i read this. quick question: about winding, so should i just wind it once then wear it or wind it 40-50 times? and i know there are restrictions on when to set the date, but none on the time right? thanks!

I would just pick it up and wear it. Give a few shakes and off you go.

Is it even worth setting the date if it's just worn now and again?

Very useful information but how can an ordinary person who do not follow forums would know, when to adjust date, or when to reset chronos?

Since I am very new to world of watches, the information I read here surprised me.

Little Question: if i have used the chrono and stopped it.... Is it necessary to reset The chrono or can i leave it alone and live with the new position oft the dial hands? Or is it dangerous for the movement or its work?
You may ask why..... But i like to see the chrono hands in different positions.

Same here!! Bought a Daytona YG JF to my wife. REceived it late from EMS on monday. My wife used the watch tue, wed and thursday and suddenly it died. Now it's totally dead and if I give the watch a gentle shake something inside the watch is spinning for a few seconds kinda loud and then stop. The movement worked for 3 friggin days!!!!
My own Rolex D-Blue Seadweller worked for 5 months before giving up. Sent back to TD for repair and after one month it's still not repaired.

Any ideas on why winding works but even a couple minutes of vigorous shaking doesn't get the watch going?

The 7750 is probably the most-discussed movement on the rep boards. Partly because of the notorious issues with the secs@6 movements (now a little improved with the latest version), but also because it has built a reputation for being less reliable than other movements. The reliability issue is, however, largely based on early samples of the low-beat version - the movement currently being fitted to replica watches is much more consistent and, if treated correctly, is as reliable as one could wish for something that is, essentially, very inexpensive.

Here are a few basic guidelines - culled from posts by Ziggy and various other folks who know a damn sight more about this movement than I do
wink.gif
.

1. If you have to hand-wind the movement, do so gently and try not to do it too often. The hand wind mechanism is quite high-geared and there is a danger that you can strip the gears if you're too rough with it. Best advice is to start the watch with a quick 'swirl' then just strap it on and wear it. Normal use should keep it wound (I can vouch for this as it's what I do.).

2. Yes, the 7750 rotor is usually that noisy
wink.gif

The 7750 rotor only winds in one direction. The winding direction has resistance since the rotor is trying to wind the mainspring. In the other direction there is no resistance at all, and the rotor is free to spin. If the rotor bearings are dry, there is nothing preventing the rotor from spinning like crazy. Lubricating the bearings helps to quieten the rotor a bit and prevent such a free spin in the non-winding direction.

3. Don’t set the date between 7 pm and 2 am
This is true for all 7750’s, Asian or gen Valjoux. Note that this is also good practice when setting the date on other movements. The date gear starts to engage with the date wheel around 7pm and disengages totally by 2 am, if you attempt to do a quick date change during the engagement, you will damage the watch. Best advice - with any watch, whatever the movement - is to wind the hands forward past midnight until the date changes, then with the hands set to around 6am, use the quick set function to change the date as needed.

It is also recommended that you resist the temptation to 'play' with the chronos too often - especially on an unserviced movement - as this can increase the chances of problems.

hi guys, i'm looking to buy my first rep. it's a breitling chronomat 44 b01, asian 7750 movement, seconds at 9. id like it to last as long as possible (probably like everyone else haha), so would setting the date be best if i don't use the quickset and run the hands around until it's the right date? additionally, when i first get it, would it be a good practice to let the big chrono seconds run once all the way around to distribute any oils? thanks!
