swemoose, no offence but this is the most unreal report of a deal gone wrong. Before anyone gets accused, all facts really need to be questioned... including the fact that you really got a rock. Again, nothing personal, but your post count seems too little for someone who'd joined for almost half a year.
He has a decent reputation on RWG, however.

I'm just a newbie in both sites, but I too have seen swemoose many times on RWG, and though people aren't saying this about him, but he's never struck me as a "flake".

My gut feeling is that Swedish Customs decided to play a prank (a) to be mean (b) to possibly see if he is dumb enough to lodge a complaint thereby to (c) to flag him in the system.

I don't think it's the postal service, unless it was Fedex since I heard they sometimes do strange stuff...

I believe that if the collector is reputable, that he will honour this purchase of his, and resend the items somehow, possibly through the UK.

And here may I just say how happy I live in the USA, and not the continent of my birth, because with 30 reps bought from China, I'd be in prison block H alongside Paris Hilton by now...

This is difficult for me to take seriously. Why would anyone send you a rock? You have not responded to any of the other posts. There is no photo or documentation other than the little information from you first post. You claim to have $800 invested in the watch, yet you haven't stated what watch or from whom you made this purchase.
I suggest pushing this one to the bottom of the stack until Sweemoose can produce some definitive information. :?

The 800.00 watch is the Hublot RG BB if it exists at all. Further clarification from the poster on this would be welcome now that it seems to have twisted a few knickers around here.

You're all assuming he's logged on 24/7.

If I were to guess, I'd say an HBB.

The watch was bought from one of our trusted dealers. I have sent him an email and awaiting a response from him. I don't want to drag his name in the mud since I believe that this is something that happened while the watch was in transit. moose

It was a Swiss IWC Cousteau Diver, as stated in my opening post (all you need to do is read). The watch was bought from one of our trusted dealers. I have sent him an email and awaiting a response from him. I don't want to drag his name in the mud since I believe that this is something that happened while the watch was in transit. moose

I believe your assumptions are correct. I've recently done a consulting job at a large company that sells a lot of things over the internet, mostly consumer electronics. I've talked to a few guys who worked in logistics and they told me that most items that disappear are stolen in transit, by some shady post office worker who discovers a 800 dollar smartphone and decides to replace it with a piece of wood or someone who replaces a 1000 dollar blu-ray player with a brick. I would believe it's even easier to get away with something like this in China.

Someone in the post office saw an expensive watch and decided to keep it... it's one of the risks of the hobby we're in :(

I do feel sorry for you and your trouble. Thumbs up for not naming the dealer before you find out whether it's his fault or not.

Yeah, I'm thinking something happened in transit as well. My condolences to the person who has to deal with this headache- my heart goes out to you. It's not cool at all, and my only hope is that the dealer is able to make it right in a timely and appropriate manner. Sucks for the dealer at the same time.

I wish there was a way that the postal service could be held accountable. They should be able to be charged somehow.

Pug, your idea of filming or photographing the opening of packages is probably a smart idea. Gonna have to look at doing something like that myself in the future...

This is some scary shit.

No need to be sorry. Not everyone has a dedicated line, or also like me, is logged in permanently into 3 rep forums.

I'm sorry some people have doubted you, since you don't need this lack of moral support at this time -- although they don't know you as well as RWGers do, in their small defence.

Still, very disappointing reaction doubting a fellow member, guys. Not all, but some...hope I never get an $800 rock in the post.
