Hi everyone, this is a sort of a QC question, I purchased this from a dealer that I have used for a while, and I already have the watch. This is my first VSF. Can someone confirm that it is a real VSF. It has details that have been mentioned in this forum such as the 2R9 serial, 1LQ clasp code. But the bezel insert looks different to me and SEL fits weird. There are 2 SEL codes: 7GJ and 8XM, I’m not sure if this is the problem with the poor fit. For the sake of future business with this dealer (which will remain anonymous) can someone tell me if this is a substandard version of the product. I will be content with the watch regardless, I was just interested in some expert opinions for future decisions.

It’s looks like VSF, you got unluckily with the SEL fit, maybe thinner spring bars would help fix that.

The plating feels fine, but the orange tint is killing me. Already looking for a shop to re-plate.

Do you mean waterproofing? If so, I'd always recommend not to trust it out of the box. However, most watchmakers should be able to seal it properly for you.

Most of my VSF had a loose caseback when new, like finger tight(!).

Best check and tighten your caseback before getting it wet. I have some silicone grease that I'll lube the caseback and crown O rings with too beofre I get it wet.

How? Easy, You can wrap sticky tape around your fingers and tighten it a little with that if you dont have a tool.

Does it matter? They already sell as many as they (want to) make. I agree though. For every person willing to pay $10k for a SS watch, give them 20 color choices, not 2.

Having 2nd thoughts about re-plating. Even after re-plating it is not likely to be the same shade of gold all the way around the watch/bracelet - but it is now. Even polishing will most likely lead to cuts through to the metal - but it doesn't have that problem now. Maybe I will just leave it the way it is.

Question - considering the questionable look of the gold plate on VSF subs, would you still choose VSF for a gold bracelet rep (either solid gold or two tone) or some other factory like Clean despite an inferior movement ?

If I wanted a gold rep I’d buy vsf and have it plated. Nikz work is amazing. I’m going to send him my 116619 and 116618 for plating.

I am ordering a VSF 116619 too. What plating are you having done to yours?

I'll have it plated in WG same colour as gen, that's the intention. I believe his work is proper.

They are different models and best is subjective. Which looks better to you?

In terms of the basic differences, 12 vs 11 respectively:

• 41mm vs 40mm case size
• slimmer lugs
• slightly wider bracelet
• slightly smaller crown guards
• updated movement (theoretical 70 hour power reserve vs 48 hours)

I also think the AR is different on the 12 I.e. Full AR applied to bottom of crystal, where as this is only applied behind the cyclops on the 11 (116610 which has date).

There are plenty of detailed comparison threads in this Rolex forum.

In terms of factory VSF or Clean. Each have their own pros and cons. There is no perfect rep.
