I think it’s a spacer for an ETA rather than 3135. It should be one of these plastic gaskets
Can i put the gasket in first like so?You don't need that spacer. This spacer shown is for the 2824 movement.
Since you're using a 3135 movement, it is not necessary.
You'll need a crystal gasket as a spacer it might sound weird. But the one linked is the right material and size. So the movement sits nice and tight in the case.
Just gently put the movement in the case and place the gasket/spacer in between the movement and case. Use a toothpick or something soft to push it in.
Don't forget to cut the gasket, to make room for the stem. After that you can install the movement clamps to secure it in place.
Not sure. It seems like nobody knows. However looking at the price difference, it seems like they might not be compatible, so I've decided to go with the 1016L smooth bezel.Did you ever end up figuring this out? I've noticed that gen 4 digit bezels are significantly cheaper than 5 digit bezels (yellow gold fluted). Obviously would love to go with the cheaper option if it fits.
From what i was told by the guy that teaches me about watches/the guy that built my first franken, bezels after 1993 increased in size and weight. i have a gen 16233 bezel that’s 5.2g, but some of the 16013s are like 3.2g. The raw gold value decreases the price of them. Not sure. It seems like nobody knows. I have just finished my project of re-fitting a 66 year old Datejust case with a modern ticking heart. The first thing I learned was that the old Datejust dials must be slightly larger (28.5mm) since the current one falls through the rehaut. Fortunately, the 3135 is large enough and can be brought to the correct height with a teflon gasket (27.5x0.85x0.4 mm) and secured with case clamps. However, you end up with a "gap dial", but for now I am very satisfied with the result. Mounted on a shaky 7836, it is definitely back on the wrist after decades in the drawer. Thank you, RWI!
Inspired by this thread, I have a gen 6605 Datejust case and like to implant a 3135. The dimensions should be not so different compared to the old caliber 1065. I do not have a dial yet to simply test if it could work. Maybe someone has already tried this? Thanks!
