The Rolex Explorer 1 36mm - Gen vs rep comparison

So if I have to ultimately put an ETA in it, is there an ETA that will fit inside the case and that would have the same stem height? Can I use a 2836 or does it need to be a 2824?

Who would have a good set of Explorer hands? I'd have to replace those. Then my dial feet would have to be clipped, right? Sounds like a project!

Looks like the hour hand is wrong too, at least on the 2836 version. Not that you'll ever notice though, and it's an easy fix.

The minute and seconds hands are accurate as far as I can tell.

39mm very noticible fat hands. Not sure if this has been fixed

AFAIK this one is better. Also I think the black Exp II is more accurate than the white face? Some issue with the lume?

White face dial lume doesn't match hand lume

FYI: I've noticed the rep numerals are skinnier and taller than the gen. This is true for the one in this thread:

Seems like gen has different versions of dial!!! This gen has 369 very similar to the rep I think:

There are several different variations of the gen dial. 14270 & 114270 (BOTH ref's for the 36mm Explorer) had many different dials. Early 14270 were trit dials, transition dials were 'SWISS' only, etc....
