I found this thread which is linked from the OPs current sales thread and posted on there but this is the more appropriate section for it:

I believe I have one of these rare beauties but yours is on much better shape as mine.

Like yours mine was bought from a website. It was 2005 from a site called idealwatches.com for $900.00 No QC and I payed COD yes I know I'm crazy lol. The watch came overnight via DHL from Brooklyn lol not Asia. I found that really funny bc I also live in New York. Yes I took a big chance but I got lucky, this was way before I even know about the forums.

I've since read horror stories about people who have gotten ripped off from this site and others just like it. I don't know if I got lucky or if back in 2005 this site was just real deal.

I've worn it as an everyday watch since 2005 where it has been put through the ringer - I've worn it on vacations, on the beach in salt water and chlorinated pools. And has always held up. It's is only recently been tarnishing on the inside but the outside looks perfect.

I've searched and searched for years trying to get more info on it to find where to get another or even who the maker is for it and have not seen another watch like this until your thread!

Notice the rose gold clasp! Exact same markings ( these are the only reps I've actually seen with these like the gen had ) and believe me I've looked for years!

Also the end links are the same! No other bracelet ive found will fit this case. I know bc I've tried for so long to find a replacement that will fit this case with no luck, places like wso, Riyi on eBay to name a few...I think the end links are called 55-b style. Besides that I have also yet to find another bracelet that has this amazing gold color either.

This also watch came with gen spec gold spring bars that I've never seen a rep come with. Mine have since tarnished but you can see they are gen spec in size.

The only thing my watch doesn't have is the green sticker bc it has long fallen off from wear but mine did come with one as well and also a Rolex box and papers!

Anyway I'm
Hoping to find out if my watch is from the same maker as yours? I know my dial and bezel is different but it still could be from the same place.

As I stated earlier the inside of the band is now tarnishing so please keep this in mind.

What do you think?

I know for a fact I had a watch from the same people. I too ordered it around 2005 from a website, don't remember the name and I paid COD, the package was from Brooklyn too! Thing is I had a bad experience with the bracelet tarnishing very fast, about 3 months time! I called the place where I bought it (they actually had a number posted) and explained my issue and they sent me a new bracelet the next day without me having to return the tarnished one. Not sure if they made a model that was not gold wrapped but the rest of the watch was identical to the OP's watch, same end links, same gold stick dial (without lume bars or dots), same rose gold clasp marked correctly but the underside of the lugs were not stamped! I do remember that they claimed to be gold wrapped. I actually bought two of them, one for me and one for a friend. They came with box and papers. I still have the certificate somewhere. The watch is long gone, sold it to a relative. I paid close to a $1000 at the time if I remember correctly.
Years ago I owned a gen single quick set, 18k YG DD and I can tell you this watch was very close. The feel was phenomenal but the dial not having lume markers always bothered me. Best DD rep ever made in 36mm? Close to it but from the photos I have seen of the EW 40mm DD's, thpse look to take the cake! This is only speaking from photos, once I hold one I can report back with "in person" experience. Different ball game I guess since one is a 36mm and the other a 40mm. Glad to see they are highly sought after. I bet my friend still has his. I'll ask.

Yes I definitely recommend getting the wrapped version over the plated. I had the bp plated 40 and sold it when they released the wrapped version and the color is much more accurate and on par with my tw best :) It's taken me over 10 years of trying out other gold reps to say that!

I'm glad to hear our stories are similar and I wasn't the only one who was foolish enough to do COD looking back on it lol. It was a very big Risk to take with our money but it payed off in the end.

I also tried to call the company bc I needed a new crown for mine but they wouldn't sell me any parts only full watches. By this time though it was around 2010 and the site had become notorious for scamming people and there were complaints all over the net so I wasn't going to take the chance an order a new watch.

I haven't tried the EW day dates yet but I had the BP plated day date 40 which the color was not good and now I have the wrapped version and it's on par with the TW Best so i highly recommend getting one.

I actually bought the watch from him awhile ago. It's away having a gen white romans dial installed. I have a gen DD and it looks good next to it other than the crown being larger.

Since my experience with "gold" reps, whether plated or wrapped or the claim that they are wrapped has not been too great I have decided to always go with steel. Very few people can tell the difference between white gold and steel and you never have to worry about them tarnishing or flaking, etc.. Perhaps I have super acidic sweat and it just melted through the gold wrap, I do not know but it did not last long for me, so steel it is. I just really, really wished that the factories would get the markings correct on the models that are supposed to be white gold. All too often I see them with "steel inox" on the clasp, "stainless steel" on the inside of the case back and then the correct "750" markings and hallmarks on the case lugs! WHY can't they get this right, they have the correct components, they just need to be assembled in the correct combination! Just my OCD speaking I guess! HA! HA!
Now here is something really funny. Before I could install the new replacement bracelet my girlfriend at the time got pissed at me and took it to the local pawn shop and pawned it for $500! After she calmed down she told me they tested it for 18k and it came back positive! The thing that had the pawn shop employee worried most was that the clasp was rose gold and not yellow like the rest of the bracelet! So much for him knowing his stuff! Anyhow I guess that this goes to prove that the watch and bracelet really were gold wrapped. Now that I see they are highly sought after I wish I would have ordered more. At the time I was just beginning to use computers and did not know about any rep forums. Crazy to order such a pricey item COD and was really lucky it all worked out! RWI, what a great forum! So glad I found you all!

Do you or anyone know if there ever was a TW Daydate in whitegold (probably rhodiumplated) or steel at all?

Man this TW Daydate really seems like the best 18238 replica that was ever made, too bad I joined in only a few months ago.

BTW If anyone wants to sell their TW Daydate, send me a pm :) But I can guess I understand if there is no interested in selling haha

Hi Gamba66,
Actually I believe the website used to offer "white gold" models as well. All I can say is that their yellow 18k gold models were incredible as everyone has testified to here. I am certain my friend still has his and may wish to sell it. I have not been in touch with him for some time but I will make an effort to get in touch with him to see if he wishes to sell it. Knowing him it is in perfect condition and has been babied. If he does end up wishing to sell it I will refer him to RWI to post it. If I ever come across a "white gold" model I will be buying it for myself. Would love to find a decent model that is made today as I honestly prefer the 36mm models to the newer larger models. Heck back in the day even the 36mm was considered a very large watch. Personally I feel that the 36mm's wear great and I have fairly big wrists at 7 3/4". All of the modern made 36mm DD never have the correct stampings which drives me nuts. They will have a correctly stamped case lugs and then the bracelet clasp will be stamped with "Stainless Inox" or the lugs wont be stamped and the clasp will be! I don't get how this could be such a difficult issue to correct with the manufacturers since they do have the correctly stamped parts, they just do not assemble in the correct combination. If anyone knows of a modern day 36mm DD that is assembled with the correctly stamped cases/bracelet clasp please let me know where I can get one! Best of luck to you!
Respectfully,
Vincent

I will say that the bp wrapped day date 40 gold color is on par with my tw best and that says a lot bc no other gold rep I've had came close until now! But hands down the tw best is still king bc every part is gen spec :)
