But I need ideas of how to recess the metal on the metal case. I can already easily remove the moon that would be over the battery, but how to adhere his securely to metal caseback?

for the recess, you could use a milling cutter mounted on a press drill. Light push on the caseback should make the recess...Same method of sorts as creating the recess for stock dial feet

Wow. Very impressive with the engraving! I'd engrave the moon, not worry about carving out the area. A circle outline to start maybe, then the texture of the moon.
Put mine together today. Just wish the alix case was a little thinner but for the price of this total project I’m not complaining.
