Thank you sir, quite a compliment coming from you. I’ve got more information than I have time to write at the moment, but here is an overview:

Both watches have gen dials mounted in cartel cases (old polex has the 5513 service dial, and the newer cartel model seemingly held together by glue has the 14060 dial) with dial feet intact mounted on heavily modified eta 2836 movements. I’ve been meaning to do a write up on that process for a while now. Both are tested water tight to 50m in my homemade $35 pressure tester.

The 14060 dial has a gorgeous stardust patina that is hard to capture in pictures. It took some laborious case modding to mount because the cartel case has a 26mm dial seat but the 14060 is 27mm. Another writeup needed for that.

The 14060 dialed 5513 has a shell cordovan strap I threw together (recently got into strap making). I still need to get a gen clasp like the one on yllekp’s watch.

And if you’re wondering why the hell I put a 14060 in a 5513 case... I originally planned to use that dial in a ST-based build but the dial is a fraction of a mm too small and it falls through the rehaut. Nothing is easy in this hobby

Great write up!! Answered my question! And I think this dial looks great in the 5513 case great job mate!

Great thread yllekp.

Forgive my noobness.

I am curious how your watch(es) (and some others) have a metal border on the hour markers but the ones you can actually buy e.g. from MR do not. Have you sourced these dials elsewhere?

I'm guessing the different dials are year specific?

The 5512 (4-line dial, COSC-certified 1560 or 1570 movement) and 5513 (2-line dial, 1530 or 1520 movement) have gone through quite a few dial variations. For the 5513, the basic dial types are:

1. Gloss gilt "meters first" (1959 - approx 1966). Within this period are "SWISS" (radium lume) and "SWISS - T<25" (tritium lume) variants.
2. Matte w/white lettering "meters first" (1966-1970).
3. Matte "feet first" (1970-1976). To accommodate the American and British markets, the depth rating was modified to now say "660ft = 200m".
4. Matte feet first "maxi dial" (1976-1984). Larger hour marker lume plots that nearly touch the minute hash marks. The very first maxi dials still had the depth rating above SUBMARINER, but the markings were soon switched to have SUBMARINER on top, a layout that continues to this day on both date and non-date Subs.
5. Gloss w/white gold surrounds on hour lume plots (1984-1989).

There are further variations within these groups: 5 types of maxi dial alone! Then you've got "serif", "non-serif", "pre-Comex", etc.

Wow, thanks!

Is two lines 5512 accepted ?

Bart if you wanted to post a Casio here it would be acceptable lol. But a beautiful 5512 how could we refuse :) I think my 5512 is lost forever unfortunately. It has been in the postal services and not moved in two months. Hopefully she tuns up again. It was a gilt four liner.
