Gold wrapped is an additional 4microns? I thought it was much thicker than that.
I do agree that the champagne date wheel looks better as it blends in with the dial, but the white is easier to read. Honestly I wish the GEN was like this. Nothing I can do for now but wait until it's corrected as I want a 1:1 REP as close as possible to GEN.

Actually it´s more like the difference between 3 microns and 5 microns, 10 at the very best. "Wrapping" on reps is just a slightly thicker plating, from the quantity of material used it´s in cents for each wrapped part, marketing hype. The visible difference is that on "wrapped" if they are well done - the (mostly invisible) sides of the inner links are gold too.
If You want 1:1 as close as possible to Gen go for a 36mm Datejust 1 and look up MyManMatt and Stonep Datejust. And no, they don´t have a 40mm - but You said priority was closest to GEN and quality
