I know. Bloody TT. This is why I stopped using them years ago but thought I'd give Andrew another chance. Obviously a mistake on my part.

Andrew is usually very quick. Last 2 watches I ordered from him I got QC the morning after I sent payment.

Check this GEN pic of the champagne dd40 out.. it is indeed white day and date wheels - not champagne!

I originally wanted the gold dial but choose the silver for that reason. Thinking about it now though the day and date wheel is easy enough to swap out.

You planning on getting the crystal Prof AR'd per your collection or leave it as is?

I believe it only comes in a plated version for now - I think it looks just fine plated!

I really want this watch, but it would be even better if gold wrapped. My biggest concern is the gold wearing over time. And god forbid I scratch it :/

I'm curious, How much would gold wrapped add to the cost?

Also bummed they didn't get the color of the day wheel right. It's suppose to be white.

Well, they did get the day and date wheels right on ALL the other dials, just not the champagne. You can always opt for another dial.
Regarding the gold wrapping, It usually drastically increases the watch's cost.. I would ball park anywhere around $900.

I see. If I order the champaign one, could I ask for them to build it with the correct day wheel?

Also is there an ETA when the gold wrapped option becomes available? If the build quality is superb I'd get it gold wrapped. Plus I think it would add extra weight, which would be nice.

No, the TD's simply sell you the watches that the factories make - you can't just give your TD a customized request like swapping a day/date wheel of a watch.
Regarding the ETA/wrapping availability, I have no clue mate. I personally don't foresee one anytime soon. If you're interested in getting your hands on these soon I'd pull the trigger on these!

How long does it usually take for the manufacturer to realize they screwed up and correct the day wheel color?

Hi and welcome. If the gold plating is 1 micron or 5 microns it will not change the weight in any way You could notice it. The gold plating is quite good nowadays, just make sure it´s the same amount of k´s as the gen. If You are as careful as You would be with a gen not to scratch it, it will be good for years.
With time on rwi comes experience and the names of modders who will do any requested change or that specialize on certain models. They will give the edge and finish to any rep in a way no factory can compete (just by investing time, craftmanship and detailed knowledge). Get any model in the $300 range for now, factory-models are also nice and save the bigger investments ($900 up to sky´s the limit) for something individual and much better later.
Personally I even find the champagne datewheel (like it was in some 36mm models) much nicer and attractive to look at than the white of the modern gen.

My guess would be as good as yours man - I have no clue if they'll remedy this inaccuracy in the short run, or just leave it for a V2 release (which could take monthss).

I have a question for the Rolex pros out there. Does someone at Rolex need to learn Roman numerals because 4 is IV not IIII, or am I missing something?

I'm by no means a rolex pro.. but I'm 99% sure that they went with the IIII to maintain symmetry with the VIII (8). FYI - both IV and IIII are valid roman numerals for 4..

Gold wrapped is an additional 4microns? I thought it was much thicker than that.

I do agree that the champagne date wheel looks better as it blends in with the dial, but the white is easier to read. Honestly I wish the GEN was like this. Nothing I can do for now but wait until it's corrected as I want a 1:1 REP as close as possible to GEN.

Patience is hard for me. :)

I'd recommend you go for the silver dial mate.. it's equally breathtaking and doesn't have the date wheel issue..
