I've got the watch below on its way to me here in the UK, it will be here next week - but because my wife has been shouting at me about my watch spending recently it will have to be a Catch & Release.....!!

Now listed for sale over on RG...!

Went back about ten pages but couldn't find anything... any thoughts on the quadrant ones? I'm really liking the blue quadrant version with smooth bezel:

worshipNtribute not sure if BP started making the quadrant dial ones just yet. But from, browsinfg thru TDs and seeing past sales. The quadrant ones have the wrong date font. Right now, IMO, the best available in the market is from BP.

Ok so what is the difference between the DayDate 2 and the DayDate 40? Are they different, are there 3 different sizes of Day Dates now?

D40 is replacing DD2, they will no longer produce 41mm DDs. Dd40 is 40mm instead of 41mm, and new dial options. As you can see, the roman dial now features the "deconstructed" Roman numerals. The bracelet has also been upgraded with ceramic (?) mid links for reduction of bracelet stretch which will help its longevity. Also has a new movement (genuines, not reps). And yes, there's now three types of DDs: 36mm, 40mm, and 41mm.

On a separate note, anybody got new QC or in hand photos of more of these? Mines still en route via China snail mail.

^ Ceramic midlinks? WTF. Really? So its not Solid gold anymore? I reckon thats a marketing ploy for greater profits because the gold content will be markedly reduced and so will the weight. - personally if this is true thats a move in the wrong direction. 18k gold is not that soft. We aint talking 22kt or 24kt here.

I used to wear a 24kt gold bracelet everyday for 4 yrs. Not much stretch at all and yes asians love 24kt gold.

@peterpl

not sure about your questions, here's an excerpt from a review website.

More importantly, Rolex now uses ceramic inserts to hold the links together, a notable development, as the use of ceramic will prevent the so-called "stretch" of the bracelet that can be seen on older Rolex bracelets which have been put through decades of wear. What might happen is that the metal inserts traditionally used get worn, making the links sit further apart from one another – because chances are that most of these watches will be worn for decades to come, and it is over time that the stretching of the bracelet becomes more noticeable, these ceramic inserts, Rolex says, will perform better at keeping the links of the bracelet as tight as they were when new. Furthermore, on the platinum bracelet, Rolex noted that the movement of the links could get somewhat limited because of the nature of the metal - but that is also said to be a thing of the past, thanks to the extremely hard surfaces of the ceramic inserts.

^ Thanks mate. TBH I think thats a rourt just to minimise their gold use. Imagine they produce 300,000 watches a year in precious metal bands. Thats a shitload of gold they save and huge profits.

These look too fake to me... If you've ever owned or seen a gen President Day Date in person, the gold is so much better and it's a huge tell in my opinion. The bracelet on the rep also is not that good quality from the old ones I've seen and what I've heard on this thread on the new ones. I wonder if they will make a full thick wrapped one.

Just received mine. Light and flimsy,
Feels cheap. Broken day disc. Doesn't move. Stuck between 2 dates. This is why I left the reps.

Rolexx wow! Thanks for answering my question so throughly haha. I liked the 41. I don't know why it's like Rolex is scared of getting bigger sizes. I have a nice DD2 rep on today that I love.

Light and flimsy?! Say it ain't so! Can someone else that have received theirs comment on this? I obviously don't expect it to weight the same as genuine gold but it being light and flimsy is definitely not okay!

ryantunna I'm sorry to hear that happened with your day wheel but I've had that happen in a previous watch and it can be fixed.

I do agree the bracelet does feel light and flimsy. It's prob the lightest watch I own. My TW best day date has a heavier bracelet then this one.
