Not so much, no. It's more popular within the older people, but all in all it remains quite confined. Now that I think about it I don't think I know anyone else in the 25-35 age range who smokes cigars on a regular basis.

One of the reason might be that tobacco is quite expensive here (though lots of people smoke cigarettes). I'm not very famillair with prices elsewhere, but for example the Puro d'Oro above costs 9.5 euros.

Actually I often feel embarassed smoking in public, out of a bar or a restaurant for example, because of all the weird looks I get.

Because of that I mostly smoke when I'm only with friends, behind closed doors.

I agree, I always feel awkward too. Some lady yelled at me the other day while I was enjoying a nice stick tubing down the river. I am very conscious of others around me and wasn't anywhere near her. In fact, I had to keep asking her to repeat herself because I couldnt hear what she was yelling from up river.

Actually it's not because of the smell or anything, as I said lots of people here smoke cigarettes and you won't find anyone to say anything to a cigarette smoker. It's because in collective unconscious, a cigar is supposed to be smoked by an old fat guy with a gold watch and a shirt half unbuttoned, so in their minds any young guy must only be smoking for showing off.

I know I shouldn't care, but it reminds me how stupid some people can be and it ends up pissing me off.

I am very respectful about smoking them at home on my patio and out in public but I am 44 and if I want a cigar, I'm a big boy, I'll smoke the damn thing. Again barring any second hand smoke, I get that. Dirty looks are great, smoke and wink. ;)

Ambos Mundos Habana with one of home brewed cream ales. Over looking the hill in the back yard.

^Very nice, one of my go-to smokes. I can't wait to get back from traveling and get a good cigar and single malt!
