wow it looks really great.

Is the size of the font correct also? It seems a bit bigger to me from the pictures. Other than this, I think this is as good as it gets ;)

Another great review and really enjoy reading it. Your review really activates my interest which I already a Panerai collectors and own more than 10 of them so for. However, I never own the gen one and never will to to that.

VERY GREAT CONTRIBUTION, GREAT WORK.

THANKSSSSSSSS!!

Dead on. Just got my first rep a Davidsen brown dial 232 radiomir, it's a good watch period! I have a Fiddy on order (hopefully in my paws this week) and am about to weigh in for a Ti 082 and something more vintage like.

I own a gen base dial and the gulf in quality is not massive, the rep seems more functionally accurate and I feel far more relaxed wearing it as the financial penalty of putting a ding in it not so great.

My only caveat is that you must always allow a budget for a top end strap, while Davids bands are fine they would be the biggest indicator of rep status. Having said that i'm not keen on many Gen straps either.

If you ordered the fiddy with me about 1.5 months ago....I think DSN is going to ship em out starting on the 15th.....man I can't wait for mine!

Rep vs Gen

One of the best if not THE BEST post I have ever seen on ANY board.
Accurate, detailed, informative, educational, well written - with magazine review quality photography.
Thank you for the time and effort that went into this extraordinary post.

This one illustrates in spades what these boards should be about and stand for!!!

Thanks again.

+1 [smilie=thumbsup.gif]

It's great to read a story like this after some bad press lately.
This superb article pulled the trigger for another DSN.
Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words guys-

There have been so many really detailed posts here I thought I could add a different perspective- as a Panerai owner who stumbled across RWI while googling for "Panerai Straps". I was SO sure that I was being scammed when I ordered my first rep- lo and behold a perfectly serviceable Tag Link showed up, and I was hooked.

I have a watch box stuffed with gens and reps- and if you weed out the weak reps and only buy the really great reps- after a while there really is no functional difference. At some point I am sure the Chinese government will shut this industry down- so I'm going to enjoy it while I can and not fret too much over the shape of the "A" in Panerai!!

well spoken!
I too have some great gens and only four reps (201\A, 055, 036 and 082 - all DSN)
I personally don't care for other brand reps, and if I want a new one - and I want this 112 - I mail Davidsan.
And another great feature of RWI is Elliot with those BigBall deals.
HighEnd gen strap on a high end rep watch = killer combo!
Btw, seems those Savage straps are getting better and better ...

Yeah Kudos to Savage_here!! Nice work- The brown strap is REALLY thick- Maybe too thick for daily wear but it's a work of art- The tan strap on the 210 is just perfect- butter soft, texture is amazing- looks killer.

Excellent post

I'm in a similar, but different spot. I've been in the rep world for a relatively short time (~ 6 months) and have fallen in love with Panerais. But now, I want to buy a gen (or two) to have in a small collection. I just don't know if a gen PAM is a wise investment any more. They seem to be putting out more and more watches every year. At what point does it deteriorate the value of the brand. Sigh...

At any rate, beautiful watches you have there, and great post!

Fantastic post!
I want one of his vintage 6152 love the plexi.
Savage straps are incredible, I am hoping he gets a hold of some olive drab leather for my heavily oxidised Pam.

yep pwrslider it's been a long haul as ordered my fiddy back late march/early april.

Not long now.

Also this highlights the big thing about Reps, there is NO WAY I could justify the real thing. Hunting out a reasonable gen basedial is one thing but Gen fiddy's etc are WAY out my league.
