puretime Yes, basically the crystal is fundamental, both the black hole and the halo effect must be present in the future reps. What did ARF say about it?
I think you will be so much better off by going with gen crystal if you're that much obsessed about xtal. I see you talking about it a lot....;)

Yea i get it...it WOULD be nice if the rep factories can replicate all the characteristics of gen xtal but thats very unlikely to happen.

So if you're that much into the xtal, I highly recommend getting gen xtal.

Cuz I totally agree with where you're coming from since I do also think that Crystal is THE most easiest tell. And thats why I got gen xtal on all my rollies...it literally makes a day and night difference. I've had xtal from arf, noob, zzf, bp, gmf and djf...and arf and zzf probably had the best but dont even come close to gen....i also had prof xtal but it's blackhole effect somehow got stripped away in few weeks so.....

Just my 2 cents...

Cheers

Well yeah? couldn't agree more? that's basically what i've been saying for all this time.

But according to a TD we didn't need to hope anymore for a "good" crystal after these releases. That's the point.

The prices go up not as much as the quality, I'd be totally fine if they charged us for what they are charging but they actually lived to the hype. Sure, it will never be like the gen crystal, but no one with half a brain cell would expect that for this money.

jiro In addition, it kinda upsets me that first Puretime tells us that we are gonna get the best crystals ever in these releases, then he meets ARF to talk about their projects etc, (and there they most likely show them the future project for which they have no intention to fix the trash rep cyclops), and finally, Puretime tells us that there is no point in struggling with the cyclops to make it genlike because they couldn't recreate it in their studio with the gen ones.

Do they think we are retarded? Ahahahaha

It's like when you tell your friends about a crazy good restaurant with perfect service, you go there first alone just to try some dishes, you realize that the food is good but the service and not as good as you told your friend it would be, then you meet your friends again and when they tell you that for them the service is fundamental, you just tell them that there is no point struggling with the service since you couldn't notice if it was good or bad, OBVIOUSLY lying btw.

Oh. You are waiting for a reply to validate your claim? Lol.

No, I assumed you would have an intelligent reply to back up yours. I'm not surprised you're ashamed of your own generation though, seeing as you're a part of it.

FYI, Millenials last birth year is '96, Mr. Keyboard Warrior. We have plenty of Baby Boomers and Gen X'ers here that stir things up too, it's not just the Millenials. Most of the noobs coming here from reddit are Gen Z, which you may know about from your watching of TikTok. "Lol"

Perhaps. Though I assume it's mainly because they have many more customers who will buy the watch regardless, versus those of us on the forums who want the best. We both know that RWI/RWG members are a small piece of their customer "pie", and they do too.

I see where you are coming from, but at the same time puretime told us that the forum generates around 30% of their sales, not really a small piece. Not the majority, sure, but I don’t see the reason why they would want to make fun of that 30%

Yep, I've had the same conversation with Li. He told me the vast majority of their customers are Chinese and the forum/overseas sales make up a very small proportion of their market.

I misunderstood their message at first, they said this:

Basically ARF sells 30% of their production to the forum, sure, this percentage won't be constant for other factories as well, but we are talking about sub makers in this thread, and about the (non-existent) updates that they implement in their watches.

Also, the percentage isn't related to us being lied to.

It's still scummy

By "we", I would think Angus is referring to PureTime, not the forum.

I see, i interpreted that as "the forum".

Still, if they buy 30% of ARF's watches, they should have some kind of buying power, i wonder why ARF doesn't give a shit and doesn't properly improve what they are being asked to improve.

(i'm saying ARF as an example, it's for all the other factories as well)

I'm guessing that the small percentage of negative/constructive feedback from the rep forums is a tiny, barely perceptible blip on the manufacturers' review radar. Still, Angus has been kind enough to offer to pass on the suggestions of the learned members here, so hey, there's that.

True, and that's incredibly appreciated! thing is that we don't know what was told or said to ARF, or what their reply was. The only feedback we received was: "there is no point in struggling with the blackhole" which was the main complain and the main visual tell that ANYONE who ever had a gen in their hand would notice

I absolutely agree, and it's the #1 "tell" that I look for in the modern Rolex date models. I'm surprised that they would have a difficult time producing a quality crystal with an AR coating. Even now, their standard crystal with a "black hole" AR coating would be miles ahead of where they stand now. The fact they say they can't see the black hole makes me think they feel it's not worth the effort and are just making a rather poor excuse.

Perhaps ARF should look into communicating or collaborating with rnrprof like ZF did with that ABD guy(that shall not be named).

I certainly appreciate Angus and his communication though!
