Well, let’s first make sure we’re talking about the same thing. On all of the ones I received, when you pull out the crown into the 2 position, there’s a bit of slack in either direction that you have to get rid of before it “catches” the hands. Once you’ve gotten rid of the slack, however, continuing to turn the crown in the same direction will result in immediate hand response. If you turn the crown in the opposite direction, there will again be slack you have to get rid of before the hand movement starts again.

For me, that doesn’t bother me in the slightest and I have no desire to address it.

If, however, you have slack in the crown at all times in BOTH directions that you can’t get rid of, even once you’ve already “caught” the hands and are trying to continue moving them in the same direction, that would be something I would definitely get fixed.

It's exactly as you have described in your first paragraph. It doesn't bother me as long as I can set the time properly. It's my first rep with little knowledge and wasn't sure if this is 'normal'.

Thanks again for your feedback.

@legend Would it be foolish to try to swap over a ZF dial and chapter ring to a JF case? I picked up a used ZF 15703, but it has some deep dings in the case.

Well firstly that’s not a chapter ring. It’s a dive bezel. To answer your question what you’re really asking is whether you can swap the dial and dive bezel to a new case, either JF or ZF and the answer is yes, why not?

Thanks for the response! My concern is a slight difference in dimensions of the internal bezel or dial causing a fitment problem in the new case. Glad to hear that shouldn't be an issue.

It won’t be an issue at all sir. I’ve done it myself a few times from ZF to JF and vice versa. Go right ahead!

Did you mod your dial?? The ZF models normally has the marker at 2 a little off.

@legend:
Which actual AP-Reps are based on the Miyota 9015? The ROO 15720 Series with the "A4308" ? Others?

So will a DW for Miyota 9015 (like Mikeys) fit on these A4308 ?

There are some of the older divers, the 15400, 15500 and yes the 15720 based on the miyota 9015 movement. The datewheel may not always fit as the width of the datewheels may differ even if they’re for the same movement. For example the 15500 first used a 9015 and datewheel which was custom made to be wider and printed nearer the outer edges to accommodate the datewheel position of the 15500.
Besides, the datewheel font will differ between the 15400, 15500 and 15720 for example.

@legend what are your thoughts on the AP roo 17520 from ZF factory. Aside from the open case back, are the colors (especially blue), close to the gen?

Thanks!

Ah tnx. I have a Mikey DW for Miyota laying around and was about to sell it - but now i might keep it for any future use on other models.

I guess this thread is perfect for my question;

What is the difference between APSF 15400 version 1, 2 and 3?
