@316lad tells me he changes all the keyless to gen parts.

A good idea The issue I am having is that the stem wont stay clicked in when I pull it out to set time the stem just pops out. all the parts look good but there must be a defective part and I am going to replace all the keyless parts from my movement graveyard

Since the new dials come with NH feet, why not just use the NH38?
i see u are using the standard 12.5mm hands anyway :p

nice paint job btw! it’s looking better and better! tempted to swap out my dial with the caramel dial now

plan failed.
unlikely many of u here, I don’t have access to the tools or skills to install dial feet so the idea was to install the feet-less explorer dial on a blank NH dial with epoxy or glue so it will be easier to swap movements in future if required.

I had sanded the blank dial as thinly as possible to about 0.1mm. however the stem wouldnt fit because of the thickness pushing the movement up (looking from the case back perspective).

next I tried trimming away the outer edges of the movement holder (grey plastic) to lower the entire dial. it was better but still too high (or low) for the stem to fit properly

glad I experimented with a screwed up NH movement I had lying around

I do. Not all of it - usually just the Yoke and the Setting Lever Jumper.
Check the underside of the Setting Lever for burrs - classic trip-up for the Stem locking function.

Nice!

How do you manage to keep the tropical off the lume? Or do you repaint on top?
Luck lol

There is some overspray I may try and clean up a bit but by doing mostly the outer perimeter and center of the dial there is not much overspray on the lume which is ideal

behind glass.:

The caramel turned a bit darker , but I am pleased with it. I added more soot around the edge of the dial but still very subtle. I find the contrast between the bright yellow and black very brash

I am pleased overall with the final result. I will have to touch up the hands for a closer match but I think this definite progress in the right direction.

the original plan was to install a blank dial with NH feet directly on the yuki dial so it will be easier to swap movements in future.

you can find one easily here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005825418332.html

first i experimented by sandwiching the blank dial and another dial in the case without glue/epoxy
however, that plan failed as the stem was not able to sit properly due to increased height in the entire movement in the case.

new plan:
chop up the blank dial, stick it on and viola

stem fits!
its now sitting somewhere in the house to let the glue cure.

this is the glue i used.
first, scratch up the surface, then dab a few drips on before sandwiching both dials together.

Just arrived in the mail...

the size is 28mm and need to be lumed.. (doesn't have any lumen ) the quality seems good for me...
maybe some forum master will be able to give a better judgement by looking at the details, but from what I can see it is a Mark 1 fat lume
Great dial! Ordered one also.
How the lume part worked out?

Im confused as to why you glued a dial to another dial? Why not just buy replacement feet and glue them to the yuki dial?
Ive started doing that for builds with the 3135 and viet dials and it works well, better than dial dots no shifting..
I just use an old movement for the template..

i cant for the life of me align the feet. and the surface area of the replacement feet is too small for me to work on.
having a large surface area is easier for me to align the dial :p

Yah I get it , that just seems like alot of extra . if it works., Im not going to raz you about it but the dial feet that I have , have large bases to adhere to .

I put them in the movement.
drop GS on the base of the foot
drop dial onto movement and align with stem
