I bought a mochacha dial and it does not fit the 1570. They're clearly not "refinished" as they would never be able to source real 1016 dials and sell them for a few hundred bucks. They are reps through and through and they are a few mm's bigger than the gen, therefore do not fit the 1570 movement properly.

Are they a few mm bigger or a few tenths of a mm bigger?

What diameter are they?

Exploring the office… bonus points (except Belgian members 😉) if you can identify who is on the photo!
The “new” ETA 2840 is holding time perfectly, the Yuki dial is a pleasure to behold and the distressed crystal really brings things together!

I think I'll stop here with the lug and crystal reshaping, done with dremel followed by diamond file, 600 and 1000 grit sandpaper, then scouring block and Bergeon glass fiber pencil for brushing and final polish with Autosol. Lug holes slightly widened, will be drilled properly later. The comparison is with an unmolested Raffles acrylic case:

... and just get on the road with this gently aged 1016 Raffles build sporting a Yuki dial and powered by a gen ETA 2840

Did you buy a Plexi or Saphire case? I had fitting issues with a Clarks T21 in a Raffles Plexy Case while a Sernkreuz T21 fit really well.

Here a little Update from my side: I reall like the idea of a slightly overpolished Case so i got rid of the indentation for the crown. Case is also slimmed down on the casesides and lugs but not finished. I also took the case to test some polishing methods. High Grain sanding paper and Flitz polishing paste look pretty good to me for a first try. Next step will be drilling the lug holes for 2mm fat bars and retapping the hole for the crown tube to fit a gen (at least in dimensions) crown and tube.

Thanks for these updates - great work on removing the crown indentation! I would be interested to see your process for the lug holes, and crown tube tapping. Have you already found an appropriate crown and tube, and if so what is your recommendation?

So for the process you definately need a drill press and a good drill vice to make certain nothing moves. After that its measure, align, measure, align measure align. I will drill the lugholes with a 1,2mm drill to see how well the springbars fit and have the option to redrill to 1,25mm. I would recomment to disassemble the watch for this process.

for a crown tube of original dimensions you need a 2,65mm drill and a M3 x 0,35 hand drill tap. Dont forget lubrication.
i am not sure jet if i shoult countersink the tube because i really like this look

For a crown i brought a "Aftermarket 24-600 Crown and tube" from athajavintage (I am not sure if i am allowed to post links here but google will help you out) It says it will fit a cartel case so i assumed original measurements even if the crown tube pitch on the webside does not to seem ISO fine threaded.

For the crown itself it seems pretty good quality wise and the coronet also seems to have the right dimensions. seals look good too. But right now i really cant recall why i brought that specific one except i was a little disapointet over the shape of a raffles 5,3mm crown.

ill probably drill over easter because i visit my family and have access to drill press and a lathe there. Ill be sure to take some pictures of the process.

also if anyone knows a good place to get springbars id apreciate it. I found a pretty good ebay shop in the US but they only have the longer ones that were used in subs and GMTs

From my notes, the Raffles case accepts a 2,4mm crown tube. The gen crown tube 24-6000 tap is M3 x .35 and needs a #35 drill = 2.7940 mm. I just ordered a 24-600 crown and tube from Athaya, so I would appreciate hearing about your experience drilling the crown tube and widening the lug holes
