The 7909 originally uses a Tudor 390 caliber (impossible to find and kind of bad), but it will also accomodate a FEF 380 (the tudor caliber is based on that movement).
A 2824 won’t work?

The caseback itself just sits on the gasket and is not screwed. Really fabulous soviet engineering. This system is superior to swiss as it remove all risk of damaging the gasket.

It is a good idea, same design as many vintage Bulova 214/218 Accutrons etc.
This type of case back could be American 'Buloviet' engineering as the 214 A-tron was developed in the USA in the 1950s.
My favorite A-tron is the steel 214 Astronaut with black dial and Kreisler 'coffin' bracelet.

The Rolex case back design is very good too imho...as long as a proper tool is used for r/r. No hammers, chisels, pipe wrenches etc. 🛠️
Saw one with a small hole drilled in the outer edge of the case back so a punch could be used to get it off. Seen a few with 'chisel marks' in the notches too.

One old trick is to clean the case back with acetone etc. and superglue a small flat object to the flat part of the case back (bench block etc).
Let the glue set up and twist the back off. Soak the back in acetone to remove the bench block and superglue. No damage and it works on most watches with a flat area on the case back.
It is surprising how many pro repair guys use this trick...without any witnesses of course. Ha!

Man alive, what do I need to do to get in this club? Haha. 😂
That's a very good question and thanks for asking it.

So, SEKSC is an exclusive club for members of this Thread and others on this forum to post a shot of their 1016 in the kitchen on a Sunday evening at 6:00 pm (18:00) GMT or UTC or, even Zulu Time if you're an aviator (or a Sky Dweller)

The application for membership is straightforward and unambiguous; The 1016 watch, in the kitchen at the prescribed hour.

See below for two examples: One would get you in, the other would see your application, sadly, rejected.

The first - Undoubtedly a 1016, definitely a kitchen, some Bratwurst, an induction hob and some very nice flavoured olive oils in the distance there, kitchen tiles, etc: Membership Granted.

The second: Ummm, Some scissors, an orange and a Rolex - but certainly it could be any of a number of models - Datejust, Air-King? and it could have been taken anywhere; utilty room, bathroom, who knows?: Membership Denied.

Hkope that helps - look forward to seeing you Sunday Evening. ;)

And just thinking out loud here - what are we going to do if FEFO comes back on Sunday, and wants to join SEKSC - I mean, he hasn't got a 1016, yet, has he? That's going to be awkward isn't it.
One of us is going to have to say he can't join. Will he ban us?, close down the club?, I mean . . .

Karbon - as the longest member here - you're going to have tell him; No 1016 - no SEKSC . . .until he gets one - then he's staright in.

Season 8 Bravo GIF

Don't worry, next Sunday I can't in any case. With any luck I'll be on a beach under a palmtree many many kilometres away and a gin tonic in my hand

Yeah, you're right - I was just thinking that. He's keeping a low profile.... 369 - over to you . . .

The FEF380 caliber uses a 2.1mm stem height and the ETA2824 a 1.8mm stem height. So I'd say, it's a substantial difference

Given my relationship with ETA 2824's and the various clones I wouldn't twist the stem more than 0.1mm out of True - it just gives that truly appalling congregation of scrap metal - that is the keyless works of that 2824 - more excuses to misbehave - not that they need any to do that in the first place.

Right then @369mafia we're going to have to get our transaction sorted so I can get into this club. Hahah!

@316lad thanks for the informative description. I now know the rules and will do my very best to meet the requirements needed to get into said club. How exciting 😂
