even the movement comes from a fellow in Ukraine who services them. I like to think he salvages them from the battlefront 😅
Nice movement. Is that Yuri the Ukrainian on the bay?
If so, I’ve had a couple of bits off him recently, rebuilding my Molnija.

Jury's out on whether the SU stamp signifies Soviet Union or Soviet Unitas ;)

I fucxup the balance wheel of my original 2416...the russian shop was out of stock and then I found Yuri. He does not have automatics but his work on those movements is awesome.

Yuri’s solid.
You need a balance staff for a Soviet movement made in the last 75 years? – Yuri ‘s got it.
I don’t know where he got all his stock from, but I say good luck to him and I raise a glass to him.

And talking of raising a glass – sorry Sunday evening kitchen shot club didn’t happen. It’s been a long day with many things going on. But here’s one just for the archive;

RAffles spoke with his factory connection and they can do the 13mm minutes hand, 13mm seconds hand but they can not do 7.5mm hour hand , but are able to do 8mm hour hand.

thoughts ?/ I thought it would be suitable.

13mm minutes and seconds would make me more than happy to "settle" for an 8mm hour hand, especially if the lume:steel ratio is correct as it appears to be in the image.

https://rolexhaven.com/hands.html provides good input on hands, including:

"13mm were intended for Small Crowns 6204, 3205, 6536-1 and 5508. It was also the size used on other Sport Models with the Chapter Ring also known as "Closed" minute tracks. This would include the GMT Master 6542 and 1675 as well as the Explorers 6610 and 1016. This length ceased to exist in 1963 when the Chapter Ring minute track design was eliminated from the GMT Master and Explorer references."

... and ...

"12mm hands were introduced in 1963 and used thereafter. The Chapter Ring design was phased out and replaced with the "Open" minute track the same year this size was introduced. With this evolution, the radius of the minute track became constant across all three lines of Submariner, GMT and Explorer models. Therefore, the Submariner (5512/5513), GMT 1675 and Explorer 1016 all use this new size, eliminating the need for the previous two lengths altogether."

I think having the seconds and minute hand 13mm is good enough because thats the 2 instant “tells” for a 1016.

The hour hand doesn’t “touch” anywhere on the dial so keeping the current length or making 8mm hands wouldn’t make too much of a difference imo

so if I understand the extra mm would bring the minute and seconds to just touch the minute markers. yes?
Extra .5mm right - 8mm as supposed to 7.5mm?
I can definitely live with that on the hour Hand (especially with the slightly smaller - correct - end-pointer) if the Minute and Second Hands are that good.
It's a yes please from me.

I did several check for the handset and gen seem to be 7.8mm,

8mm will be better, i ve corrected the lume size too to .5mm, already sent to ken

For who want to see an explorer on the screen, madmen Season 4, i have some doubt as it seem to be a 14270, but some site reference a 1016, to me it look saphire, no close UP to validate...
