Si i finally pulled the trigger and made a purchase (well 2 purchases) and 3 days later the tariffs kicked in. Any idea if this is going to affect these orders? Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous. Fingers crossed all goes well.

As a European, I’m watching this from across the pond - espresso in one hand, overpriced cheese in the other, wondering how my Camembert has stricter import regulations than half the watches and parts flying into the US.

With these tariffs, it’s starting to look like a gen Rolex might soon be the budget option compared to a parts-bin special smuggled in via FedEx and hope and not too much brokerage-, custom clearance-, handling-, whatsoever-fees ...
Can’t wait for threads like these:
"Gen Sub vs. VSF V7: same price, which one has better bezel action?"

I wouldn’t be too optimistic on our side either - tariffs like these tend to ripple out. Don’t be surprised if watches get more expensive in Europe and beyond too.

I really don't know how the tariffs work, but to me ot seems that since these are basically private, person to person transactions, tariffs do not apply. So, for example- if you buy something on eBay, etsy, etc. do you pay a tariff if it is from a different country?

Understood. I wasn't sure how this went. I didn't know if it may affect customs or inspections. The way my luck has been recently, I'm just expecting something to happen. Lol

Yes, you do.
I stand corrected. So, I looked into it a little. There is the "De minimis exception" mentioned by @Reaps which is items less than $800 are exempt. But he mentions this may be eliminated, in which case we are screwed. But I am hopeful that this business will be resolved quickly🙏

I'm only laughing because buying a Rolex is such a fist world problem to have. Also, Rolex AD's only have inventory anyway if you're someone they want to sell to. I also don't blame them. A guy on YouTube (forgot his name) spoke up on how the Swiss really don't have any substantial ties to the US other than watches and pharmaceuticals.

Going up a bit. De minimis decommission will be WILD. Good thing I sell feet pics, and they won't get picked up by customs.

Why it matters: Imported shipments valued at less than $800 had enjoyed the "de minimis" exemption from added duties, which enabled foreign online retailers like Temu and Shein to sell super-cheap items to American consumers without facing tariffs.

Trump recently moved to close that loophole, and now he's making it even harder for those packages to be sold to American consumers.
Between the lines: The White House on Thursday announced that shipments valued at $800 and sent through the international postal network from China to the U.S. will now face a....

120% tariff (or $100 per item from May 2 to June 1, and then $200 per item beginning June 1).

That's up from Tuesday, when he raised it to 90% (or $75 per item on May 2 and $150 per item on June 1).

The move is "to ensure that the imposition of tariffs ... is not circumvented," according to an executive order signed by Trump.

The impact: Higher duties on low-cost goods could make the shipments cost-prohibitive for American consumers, or could force Chinese retailers to source their goods from other countries.

Inside the room: The Trump administration has said it's imposing increased tariffs on China due to China's retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.

Representatives from Temu and Shein did not immediately respond to Axios requests for comment.

Won't stop the rep game if it's simply your $800 rep is now $1000...if it's just that, the spice will flow.
I guess we need to see how things will play out. If I understand it correctly, with 145% of compounded tariffs currently in place, the price will go up substantially. Then, on top of that, there will be another $200 (de minimis under $800 value) + $9 postal fee if you use USPS. If you use UPS/FedEx, etc., this fee can and will most likely be much more. The concern I have isn't the cost per se, but to get it past our shores. The chance of seizure will go up exponentially, resulting in TDs not even shipping to the US and/or giving zero guarantee if snagged by CBP.

Made my day, thanks mate :ROFLMAO:

For real now: then you will have to pay the tax on importing a mechanical watch worth 40 bucks, so it will be 40 more, come on. Who the fuck cares when buying a 500-600 bucks replica anyway?
But what I can tell you is that it will be GREAT for CONUS to CONUS M2M section, those pieces will fly;)
