Si i finally pulled the trigger and made a purchase (well 2 purchases) and 3 days later the tariffs kicked in. Any idea if this is going to affect these orders? Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous. Fingers crossed all goes well.
Understood. I wasn't sure how this went. I didn't know if it may affect customs or inspections. The way my luck has been recently, I'm just expecting something to happen. LolI really don't know how the tariffs work, but to me ot seems that since these are basically private, person to person transactions, tariffs do not apply. So, for example- if you buy something on eBay, etsy, etc. do you pay a tariff if it is from a different country

Look at this >
As a European, I’m watching this from across the pond - espresso in one hand, overpriced cheese in the other, wondering how my Camembert has stricter import regulations than half the watches and parts flying into the US.
With these tariffs, it’s starting to look like a gen Rolex might soon be the budget option compared to a parts-bin special smuggled in via FedEx and hope and not too much brokerage-, custom clearance-, handling-, whatsoever-fees ...

I wouldn’t be too optimistic on our side either - tariffs like these tend to ripple out. Don’t be surprised if watches get more expensive in Europe and beyond too.
I stand corrected. So, I looked into it a little. There is the "De minimis exception" mentioned by @Reaps which is items less than $800 are exempt. But he mentions this may be eliminated, in which case we are screwed. But I am hopeful that this business will be resolved quicklyYes, you do.
I'm only laughing because buying a Rolex is such a fist world problem to have. Also, Rolex AD's only have inventory anyway if you're someone they want to sell to. I also don't blame them. A guy on YouTube (forgot his name) spoke up on how the Swiss really don't have any substantial ties to the US other than watches and pharmaceuticals.Rolex has suspended all restocking to US ADs
I guess we need to see how things will play out. If I understand it correctly, with 145% of compounded tariffs currently in place, the price will go up substantially. Then, on top of that, there will be another $200 (de minimis under $800 value) + $9 postal fee if you use USPS. If you use UPS/FedEx, etc., this fee can and will most likely be much more. The concern I have isn't the cost per se, but to get it past our shores. The chance of seizure will go up exponentially, resulting in TDs not even shipping to the US and/or giving zero guarantee if snagged by CBP.Won't stop the rep game if it's simply your $800 rep is now $1000...if it's just that, the spice will flow.
Can't. All startup money was spent on guns, hookers and cocaine. Maybe next time.Aren't you guys building your own beautiful rep factories yet?![]()
We're too busy eating the cats and the dogs.Aren't you guys building your own beautiful rep factories yet?![]()
Vs rep made in america will cost more than a real RolexAren't you guys building your own beautiful rep factories yet?![]()
Probably more like $1600 but yeahWon't stop the rep game if it's simply your $800 rep is now $1000...if it's just that, the spice will flow.
