I will pay a premium for consistent quality. If the quality of product is consistently at my level of satisfaction or above, I will pay a premium. Leather goods from Asia have not met my criteria for quality. I thought I had a good supplier in Singapore for some goods (not related to watches or leather) and as soon as I ramped up demand, the quality varied wildly. I lost business. If I would have paid the premium for consistency from another supplier in Canada, I would still have the customer. That's real talk.

yes but that all makes sense to the quality of the final product, do you think the 10usd Asian straps you're talking about uses the Premium quality leathers from the finest tanneries ? no these are most likly the cheapest quality chromium tanned hides they could find.
i dont think the cheap crocodile straps will comes with a CITES certification ?

No man! That guys who work with that will use some good standard quality leather or else customers will change it with someone else. The choise is big! You know why the price is not the same for the same quality? Because if Vietnamese guy for example. If he got 1$ profit from 1 strap he is happy. And the italians want to have 100$+ per 1 strap. Because of the average salary and cost in their countries. Let me say something too. You know that gucci crocodile bag who cost like 30k? You rly think that cost that much because of the quality? You can buy 1 kilo of 14k gold for that money lol. But its Gucci so if you wanna wear gucci you will pay for it... Thats the math

i dont know if you know the prices for premium leather hides ? , if they have to get 1 usd profit for each strap they have to work a few years to buy a single hide from a premium tanery.

This is a endless topic, i never seen a premium leather strap for 10usd wich compare to a simona - orloff, or any other strapmaker on here, if you have pictures to compare would be nice to see.
