What is that strap please APjumbo?

Borealis Tropic
A bunch of companies make TROPIC style straps, I heard that the original is overpriced and this was recommended a bunch of times. Very happy, it’s very soft and comfortable.

My only complaint is on lighter weight watches (NTTD,explorer) if I wear it a bit loose the strap pushes up on the case and it doesn’t lay flat.
Seems to suit medium/ heavier divers better for me.

Silly question, but would the bezel and insert fit a gen non-spectre addition of the 300? I really use the second time zone function, but can’t justify spending an extra $7000 for a bezel and 007 clasp!

If it will, which factory has the best bezel and insert?

That's an interesting question. I'm not sure but keep in mind you also need the lolipop hand; won't be too difficult to replace but certainly time consuming. Also, skip the 007 bracelet because bond never wore it. So just get the $200 NATO from Omega.

I’m not really wanting to create a Spectre — so I won’t need the handset; I just want the functionality of the second time zone without paying $6k more!

I've been hooked on tropic straps lately, I'd recommend them to anyone who hasn't had one before. Super comfy and the style seems to be making a come back!

Skinny wrist question, also... Anyone with a 6.25-6.5 inch wrist own one of these? I'm debating pulling the trigger because of my wrist size. 6.25, flat wrist. Not concerned about the 41mm, but the 15 mm thickness might look a bit too bulky.

Didn't realize I could click on the Loki username. I get ya now. Not me, sorry mate!

Moving along, if any skinny wristers have this watch, does it wear big? This watch in 12-13mm would be my perfect watch. The 15 number spooks me.

MattaM I have a 17 cm wrist and the spectre is comfortable but bigger and higher than a submariner.

That’s an interesting comparison! Goes to show how tall the Spectre is! Can’t see that sliding under a cuff!

So I’ve spend a couple of days getting up to speed on this thread before buying a vsf v2 on an m2m sale.

The watch looks fantastic and very close to every image of a gen I’ve seen. I would say the differences described here would only ever be obvious to anyone under some very rare and specific circumstances....think about it, imranbecks noticed the difference between the gen and rep liquidmetal disappearing numbers, there is no way a gen owner would know this!

The only people who would know about the bezel numbers are our own members. Any other visible tell is in the movement and when rigged up to a nato then no one is looking there! Look, I’m not about pretending my rep is a gen, I’m just putting what’s been discussed here into some perspective. Yes we want to look at our wrists knowing our watch is as close to gen as possible but please don’t get carried away with reading these comments and expecting some level of perfection. If we wanted perfect we would only buy gen watches.

Anyway I can’t wait to get this watch to add to my bond watch collection. If I’m honest with myself, I’d never pay £8000 for this watch, I simply don’t love it enough to do that, but would I shed £260 of my hard earned cash to add it to a collection box of bond watches? ....hell yeah.

So my first thoughts of this rep are that it feels and looks like a real quality watch.

The tells are there but only on zoomed in photographs or if you advertise your watch out there on gen forums where the members have knowledge of reps. They are as follows;

1. The blatant extra arm on the balance part of the movement.
2. The reflective properties of the bezel numbers when photographed (probably due to them not being liquidmetal inserted into the ceramic bezel as per the gen, but instead part of the coloured ceramic)
3. The ever so slightly thinner inner polished bezel ring, as a result this leaves the tops of the bezel numbers to be a bit too far away from the edge of the bezel when compared with gen (bigger gap between number and outer edge of the insert)

I think for any of these tells you would need a gen watch or a considerable zoom in on a clear photo. So if you want a nwbig Omega this could be the one for you as really when you consider the tells above - are they really even a thing for you? Not me, especially for £7500 less than the current market value of a used gen.

Is anyone else having some trouble with the adjustable Rolex type “glide lock” mechanism on the clasp? Mine keeps slipping out to full extension
