Ok.. looks like we can't make 035 with real tourbi even if I'm able to source the movement. sea-gull is just too big. but maybe 036..

I think someone is already working on that ;-)
But would love to see one done. But the Chinese tourbillon movements are not skeletonized so the whole baseplate will show.. right?

Yeah.. like MasterWatch said, chinese tourbillon has huge base plate. If you see some of the watches that has it (iwc rep tourbillon) it basically covers the whole dial.
Even if it can be shaved (which is doubtful) it can only go into not-so-skeletonised watch such as RM036. [emoji26]

so here are my toughts hopes and dreams.
as we know there are 2 different version of tourbillon. one is called the Tourbillon and other is I believe an improved and modern version of the Tourbillon called the Carrousel which I believe is what the use is Gen RM
explained in the pic below:
They have Tourbillon Cufflinks widely available on Ebay and various price points.
What we need is Carrousel Cufflink like this this sellers price is $2800 (USD) for a pair. Not practical for this hobby.
Conclusion:
If we can source Carrousel Type Cufflinks at the price of Tourbillon Cufflinks we can probably achieve decent looking RM Rep Tourbillons.

If they can rep the Vacheron Constantin Malte with working manual winding tourbillons it should be do able too, no?
They even rep tourbillons with working power reserve.
The skeleton dial is a bit less complicated than most RM (in the 1st version as the dial plate is just plain metal) and it is in my opinion one of the best looking RM.

THIS!!! even w/o working pr, clutch, etc, but functioning tourby would have my money spent. This is the best sized rm too imo!

Yeah RM002 would be a good starter for tourbillon RM. But what makes RMs interesting to me are the layers they have on skeletonized dial and movement. And I think that is very difficult to create those layers in faux deco with out compormising the case shape and size.

Yes, Doud, 002 won't be impossible. It has dial plate unlike other other more complicated RM, so it can hide the huge chinese tourbillon. the problem is sourcing the tourbi movement. I mean, i can buy rep tourbi from TD for $800 and use that to mod RM, but then by the time the project is finished, it will cost at least as much as good franken Rolex.

Wooky - do you think on the 55, your shop would be able to refine the internals so it looks like gen? As it stands, the case isn't bad, the internals just look more "blocky' and less refined. I would think if you can get it to rep the gen properly, there will be a good market since there really wasn't a RM that came close until this one.

That doesn't look like it will be much of an issue at all to make. We've got the know-how, just gotta do it! Also on a side note my 055 is officially on its way

We will definitely look at doing it. In fact Chris and i were discussing this last week. We dismentled my 052 to make proper tools for them and once they are ready we'll make some of them available to you as well.
We will not re-make the structure from scratch but will work on refinishing them to have them more gen like appearance.
Once our GP project is finished we will be on to it. [emoji6]
