The difference between these and the previous V4 is the upgrade on the ceramic bezel, deeper engraved grey platinum numbers, more gen look-alike

Exactly! Then they'll stop doing them because they've reached the perfect replica! There's always one small detail.. Like the v4 and v5... Then the v6 and v7 lol never ending story

I think you're mistaken.
If they are able to make a "perfect" rep then more people would buy them. It only makes sense. We wouldn't question this or that. We'd only question how much. IMO.

More people would buy it but they will only buy it once. How many of us had more than a few versions of the same watch in pursuit of that illusive 'perfect' watch? Look at other industries like automobile, phones, software etc..... I am on my eighth version of iPhone I only buy new version because there is something better out there. Now imagine phones of 30-40 years ago. They had perfect phone for that era and nobody bought another one cause they had perfect phone for that era. People back then only bought a new phone when old one broke.

The Noob V5 is simply an amazing (super-)rep and a great watch. Toro managed to get me one, in an amazingly fast transaction - even during CNY - thanks Toro:)

If there ever was a 116610 worth getting - this is it: feels, looks, wears just great.
A lot of attention has been paid to details I do care about, among them a well lumed and centered pearl, well aligned and precise rehaut engravings, a nice, thin crown on the dial and a quality bracelet with a well defined crown on the adjustable glidelock clasp.
There is no play whatsoever in the bezel mechanism, just a nice resistance and a reassuring 120 unidirectional clicks. Nicely cut and deep, recessed engravings on the insert with just about the right measure of silvery shininess on the numbers and markers, even the pearl triangle is recessed. Imo this new player is really setting the standards of how good a 5th generation rep. can get.
Loving every part of it, more and more:)

With all due respect, rolex perfected it a long time ago and people still buy them. If Noob perfected it all the other manufactures would stop production and everyone that wants a solid rep would buy it from Noob. Period. We wouldn't be "cahasing" the perfect rep, we'd have it.

Then how come rolex updates their whole lineup from time to time? To get new customers.

It's a moot point.
Think about it, they change their watches yes, they don't "perfect" what they already have. We're trying to have a manufacturer fix issues to make our favorites more gen like, that's all. If they have the technology to get this far they certainly have it to fix the little issues we always see. Remember, it's just my opinion. It's all just how much they care to build a true 1:1 rep. Now mind you I don't care all that much but it just seems like that could and I don't think they won't because then there would be no buyers. It's a submariner, it's been around for 4 or 5 decades. Again, just my opinion. Not looking to get into a fighting match.

I kind of get where you're coming from with that. I always think that about toothbrushes.

They make a new one. "All new 35% more effective bristles." Next month. New brush. 10% more effective clean!!!!. Few more months. New floss action. Few more months. New suction cups adding 25% more plaque removal. Few more months. Extra long bristles with 30% more efficiency.

As if to say, just a year ago, you were using some -1000% effective piece of shit.

There's only so far you can go if it was already perfect when you said it was the first time, I often think.

All these points are flawed:

1- Rolex does not need to "IMPROVE" their watches because they are an international commodity and currency just the way they are. That's why they are GEN
2- Toothbrushes updates probably ARE a little bit OTT, BUT on the other hand technology keeps on improving, and, with that, our access to better tools (including technology). The same is true for computers, cars and mobile phones, to various degrees.

3- Rep makers on the other hand RELY on the SAME customer base to KEEP a steady income, and because of the very nature of the items they are selling, REPLICAS, their business is based on a never-ending attempt to replicate and copy a genuine watch. The source of their income is indeed customer striving for a perfect replica. If that perfect replica is achieved, THEIR income comes to a stall.

Is that really so difficult to understand?

#3 is what I have been arguing. I think rep makers can achieve that perfect version but would stop that income they get from all the different versions. I am out.

lest we forget a rep can only ever be a rep
having been lucky enough to visit TAG Heuer’s HQ at La Chaux-de-Fonds and visit the old Cortech factory, i can be sure NO rep manufacturer is going to be able to produce themselves a 'perfect rep'. although the majority of us do not need out 'watches' to tell us the exact time these days, the movement is still what 'makes a watch a watch, titanium, ceramic, Kevlar, carbon fiber, gold, platinum, sapphires and diamonds when incorporated around and into a watch are wonderful and marvelous and i applaud the efforts our makers take in producing good homage 'watches'.
no conspiracy theories - they simply can't match the complex mechanisms of what they mimic.

Agreed.
Although it wouldn't be realistic for them to spend that much time doing that as it would decrease production and income as a consequence

I don't even remember what we were talking about. I'm just happy to talk to people about this stuff. I've be a rep guy since my Canal St days. My biggest regret is buying gens and spending THOUSANDS when I really didn't have to. And I mean THOUSANDS. Thanks for the conversation. I do enjoy it.

Now that is something we all can agree on. It is great to have a place where we could have conversations like this. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
