hi everyone, I'm a new member. I saw in the web that someone modded a rolex vintage sub really nice. I would like to do the same, but I don't know how to start. I read that someone like silix make the cases. the same with the brevet big crown. So I don't know how to start... Could you help me?

Thanks

Jack

This is how I got started:

Buy cheap rep
Take it apart
Replace everything you broke
Try a few things to make it look old
Rebuild
Make a list of things you'd do differently next time!

Seriously, it is as easy as that. There is so much information on here that it can get confusing, so just buy something and have a play.

I can't sleep. Do you know any website where to buy a replica like that tutorial? I would like to try it. Maybe I'm not sure of I'll be able to work on the dial so the question is: is it possible to buy the watch whitout dial and to buy the dial from some expert user that makes it?

I'd say you'd be best off just getting a $100 sub from one of the TDs and pulling it apart. It won't come out even close to 100% correct so there is no point in investing money in something you might ruin.

You can certainly buy replacement dials, however, they are in addition to the dial that comes on the watch, rather than instead.

Best thing to do is have a look in the Vintage section of the forum, I've done a couple of builds which I've detailed in there, and Bonsey has done loads. Everyone lists what parts they've used and where they come from, so you can easily come up with a 'shopping list' that way.

My first build I bought a watch, replacement crystal, gen spec spring bars, replacement bezel assembly and insert, and then went at it. It came out well, it is a 1675 GTM which I have to stop myself wearing everyday so my other watches get some wrist time!

thanks a lot. Whit TDs do you meab trusted dealer? Sorry vut I'm a new user, so sometimes I don't understeand. If yes which one do you suggest me to make something like a rollie 6538? I would like to buy from some reliable seller. And about the movement do you think it's better to have an pearl movement, an swiss eta or an asian clone swiss?

Go for a 21j movement first mate, use silix-prime.co in the economy section for cheap watches to work on.

thanks. I think that in the silix website the watch is the rol 234. Nice price but I don't know how does the movement work... Do you have any review about it?
An other question. They have just the rollie 6538 with the red triangle on the bezel and with the words "official c.c." on the dial. I would like the same but without the red triangle and without the OCC words. Is this an other model?

The last question. I'm new in this world so you have to help me. Everybody knows that Rep watches are illegal. If I buy it, I risk to receive a fine to pay with 2 policemen in my little flat or can I buy it without problem?

Thanks

First off the cheap watches are a 21j movement. They are basic, and some can come good, but some bad as well. But they are very cheap to replace.

Secondly, what country are you in?

I don't know how Slovakia is for reps, but most places in EU are ok if you use triangle shipping through the UK which most large dealers offer.

When the dealer will post the watch to the UK, then someone in the UK posts it to your country.
