This is a great tutorial but a bit overkill unless you have a watch with years of abuse or your going for the absolute mirror finish. If you just want to polish a normal wear watch and are going to be wearing it again afterwards you can probably just polish with a buffer (Ryobi is a cheap reliable grinder/polisher, harbor freight has buffing wheels for $7, and compound for $5).

Here is my daily wear for the last 2 years after 15 minutes total polishing and dish soap/toothbrush hot water wash after:

I should have taken a before picture but there were enough scratches that the band looked brushed lol.

I did some steps listed above to take a Brushed link for my V2 Skyland Avenger to Polished. Did a great job, but now that I have the same watch as Supes, and wearing it today already put some suffs on the clasp, can you clue me in? Did you first just use the rouge/buffer from Harbor Freight (they have a rouge/wheel set for 4.99), then soap to get the gunk off? Was that all it took? Thanks dude.

Yep that was it. There are still a couple scratches here and there on the bracelet (look like scuffs now compared to scratches before), looks brand new and I know it will not stay that way after a weeks worth of wear. If this was a gen safe queen, special occasion watch, or you were selling I'd go through the steps but if not, personally i'd take the easy way and save yourself some hours you'll still be amazed with the difference.

I'd just check that the wheel is "loose" otherwise you'l have a more hazy finish.
I double checked and the wheel I got was only $5:

2 questions here
1) should I put tape over the crystal or it'll be OK?
2) Help a guy who's not too tool savvy. Which dremel, which head, and which polishing compound?
Thx

Hi guys, glad I found this tread along with fellow Dremel users!

Have a quick question...I'm trying to find/purchase a specific polishing compound which was recommended in another thread to use with the Dremel, but am having trouble finding it. It is:

ORANGE polishing compound from LUXOR

The original thread is here:

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/...?t=107395&highlight=polishing+compound+dremel

If anyone has a source/link (preferably in CONUS), I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Bought a BATTERY operated Dremel buffer on Amazon for around $25.00 and love it.... I was really surprised at the rpm and torque out of a battery powered buffer... This one ROCKS!

Um, because someone asked?
Chill a little sharrky, if anyone else had posted in reply to that direct question would you have had a problem? The maker took the time to answer, that's a good thing, yes?

WOW! Excellent tutorial! I, too am interested to know if a dremmel would work as well.

I was going to ask that very same question!
A dremmel tool would certainly be easier/cheaper to find!
My logic tells me that I should be able to achieve the same result, although with longer time...

...bu then my logic isn't always right! ;) :)

Have you tried a dremmel tool? How does that work in your expert opinion?

Thank you so much for sharing the tricks, this is really valuable and useful info!! Very commendable of you!

I have a SUB, in a rather sorry state (mainly the bracelet) and I think I will be applying your tips soon!
