1) Introduction
Hello RWI . It's my first review so please be indulgent
What I'll try to do is to give you a review and a appreciation of different version of this stunning watch. I hope you will have a nice read .
2) The Gen and its specs
Specifications :In 2004 almost nobody had heard of Hublot. Suddenly a short time later we see the birth of a phenomenon. Literally the 'big bang' of the Big Bang. Now, about 5 years later after the product launched, you couldn't count how many Big Bang models there have on the fingers of all the people at a crowded party. What each new watch had in common was a certain pure sense of connection to each other. They each had the same distinct DNA, and the brand forced the core design in the realm of being a classic.
At the 2010 Baselworld show, Hublot unveils the Hublot Classic Fusion. A classic looking watch based upon the Big Bang design that itself is a modern looking watch. The only way that was possible, was by making the Hublot Big Bang itself a classic. Again, the irony is that the Big Bang watch itself is modern and aggressive. Anything but a classic. So Hublot was able to make a classic from a non-classic.
Classic Fusion works. Hublot takes the core Big Bang look and simplifies it. Think of it as a stripped down Big Bang King - the non-chronograph diver version of the Big Bang. The Classic Fusion has a much thinner profile and simplified dial. What you have is the classic porthole design of the case, and the strong hands and hour markers that made the Big Bang so famous. The cases come in either steel or red gold, and the bezel is in ceramic with a brushed tip and polished sides on the carbon fiber dial version, while the matte dial versions have matching gold or steel bezels. Rubber straps with thin vertical lines remind us of the first Big Bang watches that came out just a few years ago - but seems ages old given the plethora of Big Bang models to precede it

3) Why did I chose this model ?
The look of course ! There is a nice contrast between the brushed and polished parts. She is elegant , Sporty and dressy in the same time !
As most people here , I don't have the money to buy the Gen but as i have a Student budget , I'm maybe in the poorest members part of RWI
So after Searching , comparing , emailing ... I pull the trigger on a mint classic fusion with 2824 mov in the member sale and i also bought somes watches from Michelle so i took a Classic Fusion in ss /dlc /rubber DG2813 mov (Silix-Prime , Thanks for the Outstanding service btw)

4) The Face , Dial , Bezel ...

As you can see every dials are nicely repped .
The tells ar the same for every dial :
-The Date position and datewheel are incorrect ( Hublot took the decision to use a specific date module to get a larger date wheel. Look at the date window on the gen : it is close to the bezel, what would have not be possible without the module)
-The Date window
- Marker @3 wrong size
-Swiss Made inscription is a bit misplaced and maybe to thick on some models , but not really noticeable without side by side comparison
(AR coating : I don' know much about the Gen AR so i will not talk about the rep one )
5) The Caseback and movement
First a look at different version of the gen caseback (The movement is a SW-300 clone of eta 2892 with a module for the date )
Keep in mind that there is a lot of versions and variation of the gen , so the caseback engraving are different , even the "strap systems" are different .

NOW , The "lite" Version :

Not the same movement at all , but the engraving "HUBLOT GENEVE " On the rotor is clean and very well made ( better than the 2824 ) but the black part above the engraving is a sticker and it's a bit to shiny . I don't like the blues screws and the pink gear. (Rolex Style) (Does someone know if a direct swap with the miyota 8215 is possible, keeping the rotor of the dg2813 ?)
The circumflex accent on vendôme is wrong ( it's a complete triangle)
IMO he H of hublot in the right bottom is fantasy .
The 2824 ("v2")

Again wrong movement (But sweeps @28800 like gen) , bad engraving on the rotor but the black part of the rotor is nice and look like metal and not sticker , movement feel less cheap ^^
Execpt the movement the biggest tell will be the lack of limited Serie Number [N° /500] :-(
IMO , it's the movement that don't suit the watch it terms of size .
PS : There is also a "old" 2824 version but the rotor is not decorated ... (But with the Number of the Serie /500 )

The 2892 ("v3")

Here we have the right movement in terms of lines : It's a Segull ST-18 also a Clone of ETA 2892 , like the SW-300 . But the decoration is different , the winding system is different and the rotor is also different .
Like the 2813 version , the circumflex accent of vendôme is triangle shaped .
The ST18 And The SW-300 Both clone of the ETA 2892

"This is the best choice in terms of accuracy as the ST18 is also a clone of the ETA 2892"
6) The Bezel
(the Blue one is the gen)

Except the shape of the of the 2824 the others are Gen-like .
Watch the Red drawing on the pics to understand what i spotted here .
7) The Deploy system :

Sorry for the crap quality the photo is comming from a video ...

My version don't have the "holes" in the buckle but i have seen a 21j with the right buckle on watchenden :

The 2824 and 2892 are just gen-like :

8) The Buckle :

Looks fine to me ! Maybe the 2892 is a bit more gen-like in term of spacing and size !
8) The Crown
Crowns are OK execpt maybe that the 2824 is a bit too long and not deep as gen.
PS : The 2813 don't screw down ... :-(

9) The Strap
Nothing to say here the 2824 smell like a vanilla magic tree when the 2813 smell nothing and a bit more rigid than others .

10) Conclusion
It has it's flaws , but the Classic Fusion is a must have ! The 21j version is cheap and good looking for the price ( could be a good start in the rep world), the 2892 is pretty accurate but more expensive .
Orange flag for the 2824 ... because of the size of the movt and bezel shape . But I own it , and I love it I've had a lot of comments about it.
I hope you enjoy reading me !
