I speak Mandarin and know that the name "White-Eyed Wolf" has an underlying, somewhat childish meaning referring to someone (especially children) who likes to take advantage of and has no sympathy towards other people financially. I can see it is a very suitable name for Daytona's as they are very hard to get and people pay crazy money for them.

And I believe that the wolf in the image Steve linked is actually the "Big Big Wolf" from a Chinese cartoon/tv show for children "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf." I grew up watching quite a bit of it. In that cartoon, this wolf, likewise, was very greedy.

I suppose the natural progression of the replica market will continue to make improvements, to minimize errors and get details closer to the genuine article. That's fair enough and all fine and good, but at some point I do warrant a replica 'good enough', and I don't care how much 'closer' it gets to the real thing; the craftsmanship and performance and value will NEVER equal the original. I know it's a faux-pas to come into a community and tell them they're crazy, but some of you all are seriously illogical.

The LeMans Daytona was discontinued by Rolex, so there are very few even available in the world. Plus it costs like $250,000, so you're not fooling anyone else wearing one. But even if you said you're not trying to fool anyone else, you just like the look, you can buy the look now via CF. It's a perfectly good replica, it's so good in fact that that you all obsess over the smallest of details under microscope lenses (because there are very few glaringly obvious details to worry about).

But even so, you want to pretend that your replica Rolex is real, that your Chinese movement is Swiss engineered, that your steel case and bracelet is precious white gold because it has added weight. The level of excitement over advances in the cognitive dissonance to convince yourself that your $400 replica is giving you the same feels as someone with a quarter Mil real thing is crazy. I don't know what kind of mental you have to be, but again if you aren't fooling anyone else, and you aren't fooling yourself, what is the point? Do you also watch porn and imagine that you're having a wild sex life?

I'm new here, so I haven't been drinking the kool-aid that long, and maybe hearing from someone outside the echo-chamber is a Debbie Downer, but from my perspective the obsession over adding weight to your wrist to make believe your steel timepiece is gold is next level delusion.

So you're calling people crazy because some of them like having a tungsten watch? What? I don't get this insane rambling. Everyone pursues and has different things for it. You may have different goals to other members. But calling them crazy for wanting a certain thing or a certain detail is crazy.

Why are you getting mad that some people like having a heavier watch? How does that mean they're trying to fool people? Some people just like the heft of a heavy watch on their wrist.

I agree with your point that rep is rep, gen is gen. In fact many people (including myself) have stated putting gen parts on a watch doesn't make a rep watch gen. But the point of the replica is to get as close as the real thing as possible. You may critique and criticize but literally this demand is what drives replicas to be better.

Everyone can tolerate different things in a replica. We all have different tolerances and tastes. To some people, the stock watch is completely fine. to some, they can't stand the pale grey hue of the dial, the lack of platinum plated bezel, the lack of white gold hands. We obsess about the small details and the pursuit of "gen" perfection,

You keep saying that people here are trying to fool others. I don't know where you got this obsession from but most people here wear watches for themselves, not for others. In fact the number one advice we often give is to tell your friends and family and anyone who asks it's fake. Maybe YOU'RE trying to fool others with your replica watch but I'm not.

Out of my 6 years of wearing a watch and 3 wearing a fake, less than 10 people have said anything about my watch. I wear a 55k all gold Daydate. I wear a 400k Perpetual calender. And noone cares. And this leads me back to my point. We wear our watches for ourselves, not to fool others. Why get mad or call people crazy because they like their watch heavy?

Some people here on 7 figures are year and then some.
Some drive a 350K car and choose to have 50 $1K reps instead of one $50K gen.
A couple of my good friends ask me if I'm warning a rep or gen when they see something new on my wrist because they're genuinely curious. In almost 20 years of wearing genuine Tag, Rolex, etc., watches and nearly 15 years wearing fake Rolex ones, I think two people I don't know have asked me if my watch is real. No one cares.

WRT the porn and sex life - does the answer to that change if a life-size doll with 1:1 best ever, cloned-from-a-genuine human hair is involved? Asking for a friend.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinions, I'm not going to change your mind. To me it's all just lipstick on a pig. Sure you can enjoy it, but a watch is to tell time and to look like a fashionable accessory/jewelry. You say there is no perfect rep, yet the level of exuberance for the more weight on your wrist to head-fake you into feeling closer to something it isn't is just autofellatio to stroke your ego.

I just got here, and I don't want to be labelled a troll just because my opinion runs counter to the tribe. I've found the best way of dealing with zealots isn't to double down and get into an argument online with them, it's to just add them to the ignore list.

My advice for you : insulting people for what they enjoy in the replica game, calling them egotistical and that they wear a watch that's heavier "stroking their ego" is not gonna endear you to anuone.

Then hiding behind "it's my opinion!!! I'm not trolling!!" is even worse.

You're on this forum buying and wearing fake watches too. Acting all high and mighty and moral.....
