Yeah they said something about new plating. But I would never be able to tell. I think from the outside it looks exactly the same as before. This newer SH (starting several months ago) doesn’t have the fake beat error arm like they used to have.
Got it. Who did you order through? Is it taking long to pre order these?

An interesting read regarding how Rolex did it. I only wonder what bastardized shenanigans the rep factories did to make this happen.

For anyone wondering, 'epicyclic' is a fancy way of saying "planetary" which is a fairly simple gear train (every drill has one) though it is very small here. I've circled the area where (I'm pretty sure) this system is. The regular version wouldn't have that smaller silver "planet" gear. Perhaps there is a ring gear hidden below. This is definitely a potential failure point if not done well, it's not a typical gear system used in watches. I'd be afraid of the planet coming out.

More:

I guess just swapping the gear sizes didn't fit, larger pinion would probably collide with that other nearby wheel.

Quite honestly if the Chinese manufacturers have the capability of making hairsprings and entire clone movements of complex 44 jewel chronographs, I don’t think a planetary gear is that big of an ask. I think Rolex loves to make people think they are geniuses that are the only ones able to do something complex. But in reality they have ALWAYS over exaggerated the difficulty of their innovations. It’s a good marketing trick that works.

I've seen hair springs in every movement ever. I've never seen a gear mounted quite like this. It's odd. I mean, is there a jewel inside the larger gear for that planet? I don't know if I trust the QC and materials on these Chinese movements to not have this tiny part come loose, if they actually did it this way. Chinese movements are great but are also famed for finicky chronos, bad keyless works, dates, dirt, etc. Historically the tiny detail parts like this often don't work great. Who knows. I'm just speculating. I thought the Rolex photo was interesting as I've not seen that before and I do wonder how they implemented it here in the clone movement.

It’ll be interesting to see what they did. It inherently makes it more complex so that’s very likely to increase failure, obviously. But to what degree? It will probably come down to how much you use the chrono function. Use it everyday and you’re asking for trouble. With any chrono rep. Especially if it’s not serviced.

Yes it is. My td checked the chrono operation and it is rotating once every 24 hours. Keep in mind my version is the steel case and not tungsten. ALSO, the pushers seem to be fixed and are now shorter which is a big plus. Something I was hoping for.
So basically it just has the functional 24hrs counter and nothing else changed?

LE. Have seen pushers are fixed, or hope they are :))

If you don’t mind. Could you please pm me your TD? Im guessing v8 is SS and V9 is weighted?

Ok, I am really VERY bored this evening, so I decided for a short transition and to change the strap on my Le Mans again - from Oysterflex to a gen rolex leather band with gen WG clasp (from a 161519, I bought many days earlier. I have a lot of gen stuff from former times when I was modding and changing and ‚playing around‘ …:)

So, just changed the Oysterflex strap to a gen leather one with WG clasp - was not really a very hard or long entertaining thing, but now, after changed, I am REALLY in love again (as almost every day with this beauty) - in my opinion it takes the watch to another level - never have seen a daytona Le Mans with a leather strap - but it wows me, also the whitegold clasp - in my (first) feeling, it took 5 minutes to take the watch to 5 higher levels … and a watch that never has been seen like this (with gen parts)

And the comfort of wearing is REALLY many times higher than with an Oysterlex - so I guess I will leave it this way now :)(y)

First a pic with the ‚old‘ oysterflex strap:
