Good Morning!
Had a simple 2836-2 on the bench the past couple of days, and figured I'd show some pics. These Rolex DayDates are kind of a PITA in my opinion. The dial attaches to a ring around the movement, so that makes it difficult to set the hands when the dial is not attached to the movement.
Also, more times than not I have to pull out my jewelling press to adjust the seconds wheel jewel. There is always way too much endshake on that wheel. I also had to adjust the barrel arbor jewel as it was too restrictive on this one.

Little update post from the past week or so at the bench.
More VS3235 goodness. Pretty nice movement to work on. This one had some pretty decent endshake issues with the barrel so that needed to be adjusted. That's the first time I've seen that on the clones. Not a massive deal, but this could affect amplitude over time if the barrel start to rub on the main-plate or barrel bridge...not to mention wear on the barrel arbor.
This one also got gen xtal, bezel, hands, dial, and date wheel. A stunner!

Yes the balance assembly is probably the most expensive modification you can do to your movement.

Some additional franken work the past few days. This time an explorer...VS3135 provided and converted into a 3130.
Customer got several items for a gen keyless works, gen winding bridge, gen distance piece on the dial side, gen minute pinion / cannon pinion, gen hour wheel, gen seconds wheel, gen xtal, gen crown, used gen dial, and gen hands. Lots of goodies in this one. I believe the customer told me this is a V2 Korean Case.
Brief comments - There are two post that need to be ground down on the VS3135 main plate to accommodate a proper 3130 distance piece. The post that mounts the date finger spring and the date finger wheel.
The VS3135 does not accept a gen minute pinion without slight modification. You need to broach out the bushing ever so slightly to allow the pinion to fit.

Was a big day today! Finally got a new piece of equipment I’ve been saving for, for some time now.
The Proofmaster Pro!
Most know what this is, but if not it’s a superb pressure tester that uses air to test watches up to 10 bar…100 meters. Huge advantage over using water as you can test the watch fully assembled with no risk.
So excited to start offering this option on services!
Had to put the 126610 on there for a quick test. Passed at 5 bar within a few minutes.

Got some more goodies in the mail recently, to help with retaining ring and bezel insert installations.
So people may think these task are trivial, but anything to help prevent bending a retaining ring or snapping a bezel insert is a win to me!
Here's what I got!
- Retaining Ring dies for 11, 12, and GMT series. A fellow watchmaker was kind enough to make some additional dies, and these so far have worked perfectly. They allow proper engagement with the ring, and allow for even pressure while installing.
- Bezel and Insert dies for 11, 12, and GMT series. These are OEM Rolex dies, and allow for proper installation of bezel assemblies and inserts.
Some may think these installs are trivial and can possibly be done by hand, but I would hate to break inserts or destroy other items on the bezel assembly. These will help aid in the proper installation of these items! I already realigned my 126610 bezel, and these dies worked very well.

Afternoon Everyone!
Wanted to share a few pics of a service completed recently. The dial was just too gorgeous not to share....I've never seen a gen dial like this.
Watch came in with a SH3135, and VS3135 for service and replacement. This datejust also has a gen dial, hands, xtal, datewheel, and I believe crown.
I noticed some smudges on the hands, most likely due to an unintended bump with a bare finger by the previous watchmaker, so those were carefully cleaned.

Had another special watch hit the bench...you don't see these often.
Watch is a true genenstein, I guess that's the term....
I'm not sure of the reference number, but the watch included a gen mid-case, gen bracelet, gen 3135 movement, gen dial, well gen everything...
Also had a Daytona DiW pass through which turned out great.

Evening all!
Had some good ones last through the bench that last few weeks!
Also finally made a much needed upgrade to the bench. Installed a air and vacuum arm. I am using the same compressor the proofmaster uses, and also using a Venturi style vacuum…instead of the typical electrical vacuum pump.

Few pics from the last week of franken adventures!
Had a 126610 in for a quick datewheel, crystal, hands, and setting lever change! Got to use the new bezel press and it worked flawlessly.
Next up was a fairly significant hulk franken. Lots of movement parts installed including a gen balance assembly. Installed gen crown, tube, crystal, hands, and Datewheel as well.
The gen minute pinion installed on a VS3135 requires the mainplate bushing to be slightly enlarged. I measure about .87mm on the minute pinion, so I reamed out to .89mm. Worked perfectly.

I wanted to share a few pics of one of my personal watches. I've been working on this Daytona for some time with adding a lot of movement parts, and slowly adding external parts.
I was finally able to get a blistered 116520 white dial, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome.
I would list every single movement part....lets just say it's a lot :
- Gen 116520 Bezel
- Gen Crystal
- Gen Hands
- Gen Dial (I put some comparison photos of the gen next to the clean...they did a decent job, but there are still clear differences)
- Gen movement parts such as balance, multiple bridges, train wheels, automatic module and rotor, chono wheels, etc...
