Davidsen PAM000 ARRIVED today

Wow, three days from Hong Kong. Fantastic.

Ok, I will put up some pictures later.

Watch looks fantastic. Couple of issues though.

1. one of the screws was stripped, i don't think it was the lug. I put in a longer screw and it was fine.

2. i heard a rattle in the case, and opened it up and saw that one of th emovement holders was busted. part of it was stuck to the inside of the case back and the other was inside the balance wheel. The watch started and stopped intermitantly, it seems to be running well now, knock on wood. It was a bit dirty on the movement side.

3. there was a piece of metal inside the case, and it looks like it put some fine scratches in the AR. Not highly visible but there nevertheless.

4. the minute hand looks as if it was scratched when it was installed.

Over all minor issues, i emailed davidsen on the issues and i want to see what he says. I really don't feel like sending it back accross the pond.

On the upside, it feels better than any of the other pannies i have ever had. it really looks and feels different.

Can't wait to see it! My 112 left HK on the same day as your 000, EMS hasn't been updated since.

I asked, re-asked and re-re-asked about him going over the QC on my watch. I'm hoping mine comes without any of the flaws you stated. All are easily fixed, but I don't want to go through the hassel - certainly shouldn't for what is paid (IMO).

Here is hoping mine shows tomorrow!

Looking foward to seeing your pics! It's a shame that Davidsen dosen't pay more attention to his QC, there is no reason a new watch (rep or not) should come with any of the issues you mentioned. But it seems more and more his watches arrive with a host of "small issues" or sometimes more serious ones, if Davidsen really paid attention to his QC and made sure every watch that left his hands was perfect (sometimes it seems their are more complaints with his watches than from dealers that drop-ship) he would be the definitive choice for Pam reps. But I'm sure Davidsen will take care of you, enjoy the new addition.

he has asked to ship it back. honestly, the cost (35 to ship back plus his cost to ship it back to me) is silly. I can't check my emails from work, but I had asked him just to send out a replacement case with crystal, and i can swap it out here myself. should be easy enough, I have done it often enough. Then I could just ship back the defective case. At least this way I can still wear it.

we shall see what he says.

=)

Did you read the rest of the thread or did you just feel the need to repeat what others have said for the 3rd or 4th time?

Just wonderin'. . .

Surprising for DSN to let awatch be delivered with those QC issues. For the money it is expected to get the "pick of the litter" especially of you get an "ultimate" Was yours a modded version>? Swiss movement Superlumed etc.?

I am thinking that members that get so-so watches and want to return them find the cost of shipping back and forth and the time involved in waiting isnot worth it. It seems like that unscrupulous dealers may know this and not think about sending out a watch that is not up to par. The cost of shipping and the added aggravation let's us settle for something we are not totally happy with.

DSN is a reputable dealer,m I trust him only for my PAMs but he is init like others to make $. So For you to pay for shipping back and forth and the time it takes for him to put another watch in a box back to you is nil compared to the profit they are making.

he wants me to send it back. i refuse. davidsen sorry if you are reading this, but i am not incurring the cost to send it back and take a discount on my next order. just send me a case body, sapphire and crown tube and ill do the rest, that way i can make sure the QC is there because i am doing it.

me thinks that is fair...

I don't know, I think DSN's option seems pretty fair. There are stories of much bigger problems with trying to get something like this sorted with other dealers. EMS shipping back to HK will only cost $25 or so. I realize it's a hassle, but it *could* be much worse, IMO.

Good luck with whatever you and DSN work out...

my worry is that i will have the same problems again. sure i can send it back wait two to three weeks to get it back on my wrist, and then have the same problems. these are things that SHOULD NOT happen when you are paying a premium price on an item. with all the stories of watches having to go back, i still took a chance and ordered one, and am not fully satisfied. i mean it looks good but should be better. how do i guarantee that he will take the time to make sure it is 99% qc'd before it goes out?

I understand completely and agree with your frustration. However, I would like to point out that what we pay the premium price for from Davidsen is: canon pinion upgrade, good lume, one of the best PAM crowns available and no "little white lies".

The sad part is that there is no way to make sure the watch will be QC'd before it ships, and DSN seems to be struggling with quality control more in the last year or so than in years prior, for certain.

I'm glad that you and he worked something out that you're both happy with!

he did the sandwich instead of the standard because of the lume.

i am actually partial to sandwich dials, i really love the look of them.

did the 000 not come as a sandwich?

bablola, do you know if the g case backs have the op logo on them too?

this is actually a good thing it has a sandwich dial as then you could do a filled indice lume and get a more accurate look than reluming a sausage dial. this is a great looking watch :) congrats!
